Border Czar Tom Homan sharply criticized a Philadelphia sheriff after she publicly attacked Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, saying her remarks reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of law enforcement’s duty to protect the public.
Homan addressed the controversy while defending ICE’s role in arresting and deporting illegal aliens who have committed serious crimes, arguing that cooperation between law enforcement agencies is essential to community safety.
“She can bring the smoke. Go bring the fire,” Homan said.
“I mean, bottom line is she, you know, her comments themselves speak largely to her intelligence.”
Homan questioned why an elected law enforcement official would oppose cooperation with ICE, particularly when federal agents are targeting what he described as the most dangerous offenders.
“So look, we’re going to continue doing this job,” Homan said.
“I don’t know who she is or why. Why a law enforcement official who took a sworn oath to enforce the laws and protect her communities. Would not want to work with ICE who are out there arresting the worst of the worst.”

According to Homan, ICE’s mission is focused on removing individuals who pose clear public safety threats, not only by arresting them but by deporting them from the country.
“We’re taking public safety threats out of her jurisdiction and not just taking them off the street, taking them out of the country,” he said, “because, number one, they’re illegally number two, they committed a crime against your citizens, some horrendous crimes.”
Homan pointed to recent enforcement actions in Minneapolis as an example of the type of offenders ICE is targeting, citing arrests made over the past several weeks.
“So that in Minneapolis, you know, we looked at a number of the releases. We a number of arrests we did last couple of weeks,” Homan said.
“And there’s numerous people we arrested for child rape, child sodomy when we’re making her community safer.”
He argued that opposition from local officials ignores the tangible public safety benefits of ICE operations.
“So you know, you’re welcome,” Homan said.
Homan dismissed the sheriff’s rhetoric and any threats directed at ICE, making clear that federal enforcement efforts will continue regardless of political opposition.
“So she can continue attack make all the threats she wants,” he said.
“I don’t know what bringing smoke means, but we’re going to continue to bring the fire to those people who are public safety threats and in the country illegally.”
Homan concluded by reaffirming ICE’s commitment to enforcing immigration law and removing dangerous offenders from American communities.
“We’re coming for them,” he said.
“We’re going to keep doing what we’re doing, and we’re going to remove them and make that community safer.”
