During remarks at the Republican National Lawyers Association’s annual policy conference on Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan shared details of a recent human trafficking case involving a 14-year-old girl who had been forced into prostitution.

“We just found one two days ago. A 14-year-old little girl. Living with two adult males. Who trafficked her,” Homan said during his speech.

“We found her, she’s pregnant. From trafficking being forced into prostitution. 14 years old. We are taking care of her. Both physically and mentally.”

Homan emphasized ICE’s role in rescuing minors from trafficking situations and pushed back on criticism of immigration enforcement.

“Despite what the media says, we are not heartless. We care about these kids. I am a father,” he said.

He also reiterated ICE’s commitment to aggressively targeting human trafficking operations and protecting vulnerable individuals from criminal networks.

“That shit is happening every day. We are going to put an end to it. Everything we can do,” Homan said.

The comments came as ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released updated enforcement statistics reflecting the Trump administration’s recent crackdown on illegal immigration and cross-border criminal activity.

According to DHS, there has been a 93% reduction in daily border encounters, a 95% drop in “gotaways” — individuals who evade capture and remain in the country — and a reported 99.99% decrease in illegal migrant crossings.

These figures mark a stark contrast to the previous administration’s border enforcement record.

Under Joe Biden, the United States recorded nearly 11 million migrant encounters across four years, including significant increases in fentanyl trafficking and other illicit activities tied to transnational cartels.

Since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s new term, the administration’s enforcement initiatives have resulted in the arrest of more than 151,000 illegal immigrants and the deportation of over 135,000 individuals.

Hundreds of those removed have been identified as violent gang members affiliated with MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and the 18th Street Gang.

One of the most prominent enforcement efforts to date, Operation Tidal Wave, was conducted as a multi-agency initiative over a four-day period.

The operation led to the arrest of 780 criminal illegal aliens, including individuals wanted for murder, sexual assault, and narcotics trafficking.

The Biden-Harris administration’s border policies, which emphasized expanded asylum access and narrowed deportation priorities, had previously drawn criticism from immigration officials, law enforcement leaders, and Republican lawmakers.

In contrast, the current administration has directed federal agencies to prioritize interior enforcement, border security, and the dismantling of human trafficking and smuggling networks.

Homan, who has long advocated for strict immigration enforcement, credited the renewed approach for the sharp decline in illegal activity at the border and the increase in public safety outcomes.

He also noted that efforts to rescue and support trafficking victims, particularly minors, will remain a top priority for ICE.

The agency continues to collaborate with other DHS components, including Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations, to identify and disrupt trafficking networks operating along the southern border and in major U.S. cities.
