Border Czar Tom Homan announced this week that deportations will significantly rise if President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act passes the House of Representatives, as reported by The Gateway Pundit. It has now passed that hurdle.
Speaking to reporters from the White House, Homan emphasized that the legislation would give immigration authorities long-overdue resources to detain and remove illegal aliens from the United States.
“The number of deportations will vastly increase,” Homan stated.
“It depends on how quickly we get the resources—contractors, beds, and manpower. But we will ramp up fast.”

Homan noted that under the Biden administration, deportations dropped due to funding shortfalls, lack of detention space, and nationwide injunctions issued by federal judges.
Currently, the Department of Homeland Security has fewer than 5,000 deportation officers, despite an estimated 600,000 criminal aliens walking free in the U.S., he said.
According to Homan, the One Big Beautiful Bill would fund new ICE contracts for detention facilities and allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement to open and expand secure holding centers.

One such facility—nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz”—recently opened in Florida through a partnership with Governor Ron DeSantis. Homan said the facility will immediately help alleviate the shortage of beds.

“Governor DeSantis is putting up thousands of beds,” Homan said. “We’ll fill them quickly. Right now, we have 1,700 empty beds. Those are gone in two days.”
The legislation is also expected to shift federal funding away from NGO-run hotel placements for illegal aliens—sometimes costing $500 per night—toward facilities that prioritize speedy immigration court hearings.
Homan explained that aliens placed in ICE facilities get a hearing within 40 days, while those funneled to NGOs under the previous administration often wait years.
“They knew that delaying hearings would buy time for a future Democrat administration to issue blanket amnesty,” Homan said.
“That’s not going to happen. We’re going to enforce the laws of this country.”
Homan stressed that nearly 90 percent of asylum claims are ultimately denied in court because the applicants do not meet legal requirements.
White House officials confirmed a signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday.
