A 29-year-old suspected member of a radical cult was forcibly removed from a California courtroom Tuesday after a series of disruptive outbursts, including claims of mistreatment while in custody.
Alexander “Somni” Leatham, a trans-identifying biological male from Agoura Hills, California, appeared alongside four others alleged to be part of the extremist “Zizian” group during a hearing in Solano Superior Court.
Leatham claimed during the proceedings that a law enforcement officer told her, “you deserved to be shot for being transgender while he had a gun, and I was in chains,” according to a report by SFGate. She then accused authorities of attempting to forcibly reverse her transition.

“The court has been hormonally detransitioning me for quarter of a decade as part of a state-sponsored conversion therapy program,” Leatham said in court.

“I am not suicidal. I have never been suicidal.”
She added, “If I am killed in police custody, it was murder!”
Due to the disruption, Judge John B. Ellis ordered Leatham to be placed in an isolation booth for the remainder of the hearing.
“If defendant Leatham can’t behave herself, she can be moved to the isolation booth,” Judge Ellis stated.
Leatham is one of several individuals associated with the Zizian cult charged or named as persons of interest in connection to a series of violent incidents across the United States.
The group has been linked to six deaths, including the January murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Vermont and the 2022 double homicide of an elderly couple in Pennsylvania.
Among the cases tied to the group is a violent altercation in Vallejo, California, that resulted in the death of cult member Emma Borhanian.
Leatham and another member, Suri Dao, face attempted murder charges related to that incident.
The confrontation stemmed from a rent dispute with property owner Curtis Lind, who had purchased land in Vallejo and placed mobile units and shipping containers to lease to tenants struggling with housing costs.
According to tenants and family members, the Zizian group initially paid rent but stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lind’s daughter, Dina Morrill, stated that the group had agreed to fix up their vehicles and move out. Lind’s son, Carl Lind, told local media, “The truth is, they jumped him.”
According to court records and witness accounts, during the confrontation, Lind was attacked with a samurai sword but managed to retrieve a firearm and shoot two of his attackers.
Borhanian was fatally shot, and another attacker sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest. Prosecutors determined Lind acted in self-defense.
“He got his gun out and shot two of them, killed one of them,” tenant Patrick McMillan told the San Francisco Chronicle.
“The other one had three shots to the chest.”
McMillan also described the severity of the initial attack on Lind, saying the sword was “stuck through his back with about a foot of it sticking out in front.”
Though Lind survived that encounter, he was killed in a separate stabbing incident on January 17, 2025.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Maximilian Snyder, another alleged member of the Zizian cult, and charged him with murder.
The Zizians, described by authorities as a fringe group of radical vegan activists with multiple members identifying as transgender, have drawn increased scrutiny following the string of violent incidents.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate possible connections between the group’s ideology and the series of attacks.
Leatham, Dao, and other individuals associated with the Zizians remain in custody.
The next court hearing in the case is scheduled for April 22 at 9 a.m.
