Transgender Teacher in Virginia Under Fire for Gun Meme Online

A high school teacher in Virginia is under investigation after posting an image on social media depicting a rainbow-colored gun pointed at a person’s head with the caption “PUT THE PRONOUNS BACK IN THE EMAIL,” as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

According to The College Fix, the teacher, identified as Sabrina Morris, works for Danville Public Schools in Danville, Virginia. The post, which appeared on Instagram, immediately drew concern from parents, students, and members of the community.

A spokesperson for the district confirmed that local law enforcement is now involved.

“We are aware of a recent social media post involving one of our employees that has caused concern within our school community. We take such matters very seriously, as the content shared does not reflect the values or expectations of professionalism that guide our division,” the spokesperson said.

The district further confirmed that Morris “will not be present on school grounds while this matter is under investigation.”

The Instagram post appeared to feature a digitally altered image of a rainbow handgun aimed at a person’s head with an accompanying message referencing pronouns — a contentious issue in schools across the country.

According to The College Fix, the image was reportedly reposted from an account called “Dream for America,” which describes itself as a platform to “inspire young Americans to defend democracy & fight fascism online, on-campus, & across the country.”

The group later claimed the post was intended as humor and “not meant to endorse violence.”

Following public backlash, both the Dream for America account and Morris’s Instagram were switched to private. The school district also removed Morris’s professional information from its website while the investigation proceeds.

The incident has renewed attention on the growing tensions in public schools over political and cultural issues involving gender identity, classroom content, and teacher conduct on social media.

Similar cases in recent years have sparked nationwide debates about teacher accountability, student safety, and the appropriateness of political expression from educators.

As of Sunday, Danville authorities have not announced whether formal charges will be filed. The district reiterated its cooperation with law enforcement and assured parents that “the safety and well-being of students remain our top priority.”
