A 19-year-old accused of firebombing a Tesla dealership in Missouri could face up to 30 years in federal prison if convicted on multiple charges related to the March attack.

Federal authorities have identified the suspect as Owen McIntire.

In Kansas, transgender Owen McIntire, 19 accused of firebombing two Tesla Cybertrucks faces spending the remainder of his youth behind bars thanks to very harsh federal charges.

According to court documents and media reports, McIntire allegedly targeted two electric vehicles at a Tesla dealership in Kansas City on March 11, using an improvised incendiary device.

McIntire has pleaded not guilty to federal charges including malicious destruction of property and unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device.

The former carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.

If convicted on all counts, McIntire could be sentenced to three decades in federal prison.

Attorney General Pam Bondi cited an ongoing pattern of politically motivated violence as part of the department’s justification for escalating the case.

“Let me be extremely clear to anyone who still wants to firebomb a Tesla property: you will not evade us. You will be arrested. You will be prosecuted. You will spend decades behind bars. It is not worth it,” Bondi said in a statement issued at the time of McIntire’s arrest.

Reports from the Daily Mail and Breitbart News note that McIntire was undergoing what was described in court records as “gender-affirming care” at the time of the incident.

He has also been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, depression, and gender dysphoria, according to filings presented during court proceedings.

McIntire is not the only individual accused of vandalizing Tesla facilities in recent months.

In a separate March case, another individual was charged with spray-painting political messages at a Tesla sales and service center.

That suspect reportedly identified with “She/They” pronouns and included graffiti that referenced support for “trans rights” alongside anti-Trump and anti-Musk messages.

Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk have been increasingly targeted since Musk’s public alignment with President Donald Trump and opposition to certain progressive policies, including gender ideology and censorship.

Federal officials have not publicly confirmed whether the attacks are being investigated as part of a larger pattern of politically motivated crimes against the electric vehicle manufacturer.

Andy Ngô, a journalist who has covered several protest-related incidents, reported that McIntire was allegedly dressed in women’s clothing during the attack.

Surveillance footage and witness testimony have not yet been made public.

McIntire was taken into custody shortly after the firebombing but was later released by order of a federal judge in late April, pending trial.

His attorneys argued for pre-trial release on the grounds that he had no prior criminal record and strong ties to the local community.

McIntire’s legal team has not released a statement on the pending charges or his defense strategy.

A trial date has not yet been set.
