President Donald Trump compared the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” to Russiagate in a lengthy Truth Social post Wednesday, blasting his “past” supporters for buying it.
After months of talk about releasing the Epstein Files, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) abruptly announced July 6 the results of their investigation, and that there was no client list and Epstein was not murdered. The sudden ending caused frustration among the president’s base.
Trump has repeatedly downplayed the conclusion and did so further in a Wednesday Truth Social post, voicing his frustration with fixation on the case.
“[The Democrats’] new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker. They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years,” Trump wrote after comparing the current controversy to Russiagate. “I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about, with strong prodding by the Fake News and the success starved Dems, is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax. Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore! Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he concluded.
Since the case concluded ten days ago, the president’s base has continued to press for answers. The frustration was in part fueled by repeated promises and statements by the administration surrounding the documents.
Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi previously said she was reviewing a “client list,” and a group of conservative influencers received a “Phase 1” binder of the Epstein files in February.
Trump administration officials told the Daily Caller they were frustrated with how the Epstein case was handled, with some even confused over whether the internal investigation was really over. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Top Trump Officials Admit They’re Pissed At How The Epstein Story Was Handled)
One senior administration official previously told the Caller it was known there was never a “client list” or a “smoking gun” when Bondi appeared on Fox News. Bondi had told the outlet she was reviewing the list on her desk.
The official stated they were not sure why Bondi made those comments, adding that the DOJ was generally prone to overpromising.
A source familiar previously confirmed to the Caller that Bondi had a tranche of Epstein documents on her desk when she made those remarks about the “client list,” but did not yet know what was in them.
The source claimed that some close to the AG fear she was not sufficiently prepared, and that Bondi is taking most of the blame for poor guidance from lower-level officials.

The controversy exploded after Axios reported that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino argued with Bondi over the handling of the Epstein files, resulting in speculation that he may quit. Officials in the administration say Bongino is still deputy director, the outlet reported.
Trump later put out a statement of support for Bondi, and has since dismissed the files and the back-and-forth surrounding it.
“I don’t understand what the interest or what the fascination is,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday.
