President Donald Trump addressed participants at the annual March for Life, highlighting the event’s long history and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting unborn children, defending religious liberty, and supporting families across the United States.

Trump opened his remarks by recognizing the scale and significance of the gathering, which marked more than five decades of activism.

“Hello to everyone at the March for Life for 53 years, students, families, patriots and believers have come to Washington from every corner of the country to defend the infinite worth and God given dignity of every human life,” Trump said.

He connected the event to the nation’s founding principles, noting the upcoming milestone anniversary of American independence.

“In 2026 as we celebrate 250 years since our founding fathers recognized the right to life in our Declaration of Independence, I want to thank every single one of you who was out on this winter day, a beautiful day, but it’s winter nevertheless, to stand up for the unborn,” he said.

Trump reflected on his personal involvement with the march, pointing to a moment he described as historic.

“Six years ago, I was proud to be the first president in history to attend this march in person,” Trump said.

He said his administration’s record since that time reflected what he called unprecedented progress on life issues and family policy.

“Since then, we have made unprecedented strides to protect innocent life and support the institution of the family like never before,” Trump said.

“There’s never been anything like it.”

Trump highlighted judicial appointments made during his first term as a central component of that effort.

“In my first term, I was honored to appoint judges and justices who believed in interpreting the Constitution as written,” he said.

“That was a big deal, and because of that, the pro life movement won the greatest victory in its history.”

He noted that following that shift, responsibility for abortion policy moved to the states, where debates and decisions continue.

“Now the work to rebuild a culture that supports life continues in every state, every community and every part of our beautiful land,” Trump said.

Trump framed the pro-life cause as broader than legislation and court rulings, emphasizing its cultural and moral dimensions.

“This is a battle that must be fought, must be won, not only in the corridors of power, but above all, in the hearts and souls of the people,” he said.

He then outlined several policy areas he said his administration has prioritized in alignment with that mission.

“That is why, under the Trump administration, we’re strongly defending religious liberty,” Trump said.

“We’re bringing back faith in America. We’re bringing back God.”

Trump said his administration ended taxpayer-funded abortion programs domestically and internationally.

“We have stopped forced taxpayer funding of abortion at home and abroad,” he said.

He also pointed to support for alternatives to abortion and assistance for families.

“We’re championing faith based adoption and foster care and supporting our parents by investing $1,000 into an account that will grow over time for every newborn baby,” Trump said.

Trump concluded his remarks by thanking supporters and reaffirming what he described as the moral foundation of the movement.

“With your help and support, we will continue to fight at the eternal truth that every child is a gift from God,” Trump said.

“Thank you and God, bless America.”
