President Donald Trump has directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to intensify mass deportation efforts in major American cities, following weeks of protests and unrest tied to immigration enforcement operations.
In a post made Sunday evening on Truth Social, President Trump ordered ICE officers to ramp up detainment and deportation efforts, particularly in urban areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.
The directive follows a string of protests—some peaceful, others violent—that erupted after ICE operations began detaining hundreds of illegal immigrants, including individuals with violent criminal records.

“Our Nation’s ICE Officers have shown incredible strength, determination, and courage as they facilitate a very important mission, the largest Mass Deportation Operation of Illegal Aliens in History,” Trump stated.
“Every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians, but nothing will stop us from executing our mission, and fulfilling our Mandate to the American People.”
President Trump added, “ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.”
The protests began in Los Angeles on June 7 following coordinated ICE raids that led to hundreds of arrests. Among those taken into custody were individuals with known criminal backgrounds.

In response to the escalating unrest, President Trump deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles two weeks ago, a move that has drawn criticism from Democrat leaders who argue that the presence of military personnel could further escalate tensions.
Protests have since spread nationwide, with demonstrations taking place in several cities, including Portland and Salt Lake City.
While some of the gatherings have remained peaceful, many turned violent, resulting in injuries to law enforcement officers and protesters alike.
In one particularly tragic incident in Salt Lake City on Saturday, a bystander was fatally shot after two designated peacekeepers opened fire on a man running toward the crowd with a rifle.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Arturo Gamboa, was reportedly the intended target, but the wrong individual was struck and killed during the altercation.

Despite the backlash and ongoing protests, President Trump reaffirmed his stance in Sunday’s post, stating that ICE operations must expand to confront what he described as a crisis in Democrat-controlled cities.
“In order to achieve this, we must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside,” Trump said.
“These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens.”
He continued, “The American People want our Cities, Schools, and Communities to be SAFE and FREE from Illegal Alien Crime, Conflict, and Chaos. That’s why I have directed my entire Administration to put every resource possible behind this effort, and reverse the tide of Mass Destruction Migration that has turned once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia. Our Federal Government will continue to be focused on the REMIGRATION of Aliens to the places from where they came, and preventing the admission of ANYONE who undermines the domestic tranquility of the United States.”
President Trump also offered a message of support for immigration enforcement officials, stating, “I want our Great and Brave ICE Officers to know that REAL Americans are cheering you on every day.”

While the administration has emphasized a focus on removing criminal illegal aliens, critics continue to voice concern over reports of family separations and the targeting of non-criminal individuals working in various industries.
“I don’t think the president understands that we have entire sectors of our economy that cannot function without immigrant labor,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said during a Sunday appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

According to a report by the New York Times, the administration has issued guidance instructing ICE to refrain from conducting deportation operations at agricultural sites, hotels, and restaurants, and to avoid detaining non-criminal collateral individuals.
This measure reportedly stems from concerns about the economic impact of widespread raids on essential industries.
As ICE continues to carry out high-profile enforcement actions, the political divide over immigration enforcement has widened, with the Trump administration pressing forward with what it calls a necessary effort to restore law and order in American cities.
