Trump Flirts With Repeating Republicans’ Greatest Blunder

President Donald Trump may be poised to repeat one of the greatest mistakes ever made by a Republican president. There’s still plenty of time to correct course, but it won’t be without a cost. Fulfilling the mandate of the voters may necessitate rapid shifts in some of America’s largest economic sectors. 

The Department of Homeland Security paused most raids on farms, hotels, and restaurants (dens of illegal labor) on June 13. These exemptions were reversed on June 16, according to the Washington Post. Detractors will call it a flip-flop. Or an example of TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out). A more apt acronym, as suggested by political analyst Nate Silver, is TORTA: Trump Often Regrets Torching Approval. Trump is responsive to public opinion.
