TalkTV host Mark Dolan defended President Donald Trump’s approach to Iran during a recent commentary, arguing that the president’s actions reflect leadership and global responsibility despite warnings about rising energy prices and criticism from political opponents and media outlets.
Dolan discussed Trump’s call for Iran’s unconditional surrender and addressed concerns raised by international observers about the economic consequences of escalating tensions in the region.
He pointed to warnings from Qatar, a U.S. ally, which has cautioned that a prolonged conflict could damage global economies.

“Folks, this is what leadership looks like. President Trump has called for Iran’s unconditional surrender as he brushed off warnings about surging energy prices,” Dolan said.
Dolan noted that Trump had addressed concerns about potential political changes within Iran and said the president indicated he was open to different outcomes regarding the country’s leadership.
“Donald Trump said he was not concerned whether a democracy replaced the regime, and was open to another religious leader, saying, I deal with a lot of religious leaders, and they are fantastic,” Dolan said.
Dolan also referenced comments Trump made about rising fuel costs and global oil prices during the current period of tension.

“He told CNN that the most expensive petrol of his second term and rising global oil prices were short term issues,” Dolan said.
The TalkTV host argued that the president’s actions should be viewed within the context of broader global security concerns and said Trump was acting without personal political benefit.
“And here’s what’s remarkable about Donald Trump’s intervention. He’s got no skin in the game,” Dolan said.
“Donald Trump is the least cynical politician that I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.”
Dolan said Trump’s position on the conflict could carry political risks domestically, particularly among some voters who oppose U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts.
“What I mean by that is that Donald Trump has nothing to gain from this war in Iran, his MAGA support base in the United States, the political right in America don’t want foreign wars, and it’s going to affect inflation in America,” Dolan said.
He added that the conflict could also affect energy prices in the United States.
“It’s going to affect oil and gas prices, but he’s doing it because it’s the right thing for the world,” Dolan said.
Dolan also criticized media narratives that have compared Trump to authoritarian figures.
“So Donald Trump is being cast as the bad Orange Man, Adolf Hitler, 2.0 by the way,” Dolan said.
He continued by referencing earlier political claims made by Trump’s critics.
“Do you remember that when the Democrats in America said he was going to be Hitler. When does that happen? When does he become Hitler? Because it’s been, what, a year and a bit now, nearly a year and a half, no Hitler moment yet from Donald Trump,” Dolan said.
Dolan then cited what he described as several economic and policy outcomes from Trump’s presidency.
“All he’s done is improve the terms by which America trades with the world. He’s brought jobs back to the United States,” Dolan said.
He also referenced manufacturing and energy developments during Trump’s administration.
“He’s made companies like Apple produce their products in America, the car industry, the oil supply is unbelievable,” Dolan said.
Dolan also discussed fuel costs in the United States, contrasting them with prices in the United Kingdom.
“Gas prices are at their lowest level since 2010. We can only dream of such cheap petrol here in the United Kingdom,” Dolan said.
He continued by discussing policies related to public institutions, sports participation rules, and immigration enforcement.
“He’s got rid of wokery in America’s public institutions, men can’t participate in women’s sport anymore,” Dolan said.
Dolan also referenced border enforcement policies.
“And there is the small matter of the fact that he’s closed the southern border, keeping terrorists and sex offenders out of America,” Dolan said.
The TalkTV host said he believes Trump’s role in the Middle East reflects leadership during a moment of international tension.
“He’s doing an incredible job, and now he’s on the world stage, in my view, having a Churchillian moment. Let me know what you think,” Dolan said.
Dolan then drew a historical comparison while discussing Trump’s actions.
“Is Donald Trump comparable to Winston Churchill?” Dolan asked.
“The reason why I consider his actions in the Middle East to be so heroic is that there is no political advantage to him,” Dolan said.
Dolan also argued that the conflict could present political challenges for the president.
“In fact, this war in Iran is bad news for his electoral prospects, but he’s doing it because he believes it’s the right thing to do,” Dolan said.
He contrasted Trump’s approach with what he described as hesitation by United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer in responding to the situation.
“We can only dream of such leadership,” Dolan said.
Dolan criticized Starmer for what he described as slow action regarding support for Israel and the United States.
“Older old Keir Starmer stands accused of dragging his heels in support for Israel and America,” Dolan said.
Dolan also referenced reports about prior knowledge of planned military action and commented on the status of a Royal Navy vessel.
“Reportedly, he’s known for weeks about this planned attack and did nothing,” Dolan said.
“We’ve got HMS Dragon still stuck in the sea somewhere on its way to its chosen destination,” Dolan said.
Dolan concluded his remarks with criticism of the current state of British leadership.
“What a joke. What a basket case this country has become,” Dolan said.
