President Donald Trump sharply criticized both Iran and Israel on Monday for violating a recently established cease-fire agreement, just hours after it was scheduled to take effect.

Speaking before departing for a NATO summit, the president expressed frustration over the renewed hostilities, stating that both nations had failed to adhere to the cease-fire terms.

“I think they both violated it,” President Trump told reporters.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f**k they’re doing, do you understand?”

The president made it clear that he was dissatisfied with both sides, particularly in light of developments that unfolded after the cease-fire was set to begin.

“I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either,” Trump said. He added that he was working to de-escalate the situation, stating, “I’m going to see if I can stop it, OK?”

Trump also expressed concern over Israel’s immediate response to a rocket that reportedly landed after the cease-fire went into effect, questioning the proportionality of the response. “I have to get Israel to calm down now,” he said.

“They’re going out just because of one rocket.”

In a direct appeal on his Truth Social platform, President Trump posted an all-caps message directed at the Israeli government: “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”

The post followed an earlier message on the same platform in which Trump declared that the cease-fire had begun and urged all parties to adhere to it. “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” he wrote.

The cease-fire agreement had been intended to de-escalate ongoing conflict in the region, which had seen a sharp rise in hostilities in recent weeks.

Details of the agreement were not immediately released, but it was understood to involve commitments from both Tehran and Jerusalem to halt military operations as part of a temporary truce facilitated by U.S. diplomatic channels.

Despite the cease-fire’s announcement, reports from both Israeli and regional media outlets indicated that new rocket fire had been launched from Iranian-backed forces shortly after the deadline passed, with Israel responding in kind.

These actions prompted immediate concern from the White House.

The renewed fighting threatens to further destabilize efforts by the Trump administration to broker lasting peace agreements in the region.

President Trump’s remarks reflect a shift from past U.S. policy that has typically emphasized unequivocal support for Israel in conflict situations.

Instead, Trump signaled a need for both sides to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could derail the fragile truce.

It remains unclear whether either government will heed the president’s call for calm.

U.S. officials have not provided further comment on whether additional diplomatic steps are being pursued or whether any talks are underway to reinforce the cease-fire terms.

The situation remains fluid as international observers continue to monitor the escalating tensions.
