‘Trump is Saving Lives, They Can’t Stand it’ [WATCH]

Former acting ICE Director and Trump administration border czar Tom Homan criticized Democratic mayors on Wednesday for their continued support of sanctuary city policies, arguing that these policies undermine public safety.

Homan made his comments during an appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, where he responded to statements made by mayors who testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

The hearing featured Democratic mayors Michelle Wu of Boston, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, Mike Johnston of Denver, and Eric Adams of New York City, all of whom defended their cities’ policies of refusing to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Wu, in particular, claimed that sanctuary policies make cities safer.

“I didn’t see that hearing, but thank you for playing that because now I want to sleep like a baby. Because if I get to live in her mind rent free every day, that’s kind of cool. I love my job. I work for the greatest president in my lifetime,” Homan told Laura Ingraham.

“We’re making America safe again. President Trump promised the American people that we’re going to shut down illegal alien crime in this country. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Mayor Wu should be standing side by side with me.”

Homan also responded to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s claim that welcoming migrants has led to a decrease in crime.

“We took two murderers off the streets of Chicago. Is that city safer? We took child predators off the streets of Chicago. Does that make that city safer? We took, I think it was, seven or nine TDA (Tren De Aragua) members off the streets of Chicago. Does that make that city safer? Look, he’s ignorant, and these mayors just don’t get it. President Trump made a promise. We’re going to prioritize public safety threats and national security threats,” Homan said.

Homan then detailed the scope of ICE’s enforcement efforts under the Trump administration, highlighting the number of arrests made.

“We’re at about 30,000 arrests. Most of them are public safety threats. There are some collaterals, and why is that? Because people like him and the mayor of Boston and the mayor of Denver, they don’t let us arrest the bad guy in the safety and security of the county jail where the officer is safe, the alien is safe, the community is safe,” Homan said.

“They release him in the community. So we got to go to the community and find him. And when we find that bad guy, if he’s with other illegal aliens that aren’t a criminal threat, but they’re in the country illegally, they’re going too.”

The discussion also covered criticisms from Democrats, including Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who accused President Donald Trump of using crime victims’ families for political purposes.

“Give me a break. Americans are dying. I’ve met hundreds of angel moms and dads who buried their children. Another congressman talked about the architect of family separation. Yeah, we separated families, but we prosecuted parents, and the children can’t go to jail with them,” Homan said.

“That happens to U.S. citizen parents hundreds of times across this country every day. But they don’t talk about the half a million children that were trafficked into this country. They can’t find 300,000 of them during sex trafficking and forced labor.”

Homan’s comments come as ICE continues to detain illegal immigrants who were previously released by Massachusetts authorities despite detainer requests.

In June 2024, ICE agents in Bristol County apprehended a 24-year-old Guatemalan national who had been out on bail for child rape charges.

In April 2024, ICE arrested a repeat public lewdness offender from the Cape Verde Islands who had been released despite multiple offenses.

Meanwhile, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has signaled his city’s opposition to Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts.

In a November 21 interview with The Denverite, Johnston suggested that residents and law enforcement in Denver could resist federal deportation initiatives.

Days later, during a November 25 interview on Fox News, Homan referenced 8 USC 1324 (iii) and accused Johnston of preparing to commit a felony by obstructing immigration enforcement.

As the Biden administration continues to struggle with border security, sanctuary city policies remain a flashpoint in the national debate over illegal immigration and public safety.
