Leavitt, who played a key role in shaping the campaign’s media strategy, will now step into the high-profile position as the administration’s primary spokesperson.
Her appointment marks an early indication of Trump’s approach to media relations during his presidency.
Known for her steadfast support of Trump’s policies and her ability to navigate the often contentious relationship between the administration and the press, Leavitt’s selection signals a commitment to maintaining a strong and direct communication strategy with the American public.
Leavitt previously worked as a press assistant in the Trump White House and served as the communications director for Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) before joining Trump’s campaign team.
Her experience in both government and political communications has positioned her as a trusted figure within Trump’s circle.
As Press Secretary, Leavitt will be responsible for managing the administration’s relationship with the media, addressing public inquiries, and articulating the president’s agenda.
Her role will also include delivering daily press briefings from the White House, a position that has historically been a focal point for public and media engagement.
Leavitt’s appointment comes as Trump’s team continues to take shape, with key cabinet and advisory positions being filled in preparation for his term beginning in January.
