President Donald Trump nominated Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyer Emil Bove to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a Truth Social post Wednesday.
Bove, a previous defense attorney for Trump, was serving as acting deputy attorney general in the DOJ. Bove was previously deemed Trump’s “enforcer” by the mainstream media after he was tasked with leading the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group.
The task force is reviewing the conduct of federal prosecutors and FBI agents who pursued Trump and investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, according to the attorney general’s press release. (RELATED: Emil Bove Puts DOJ Prosecutors Who Don’t Cooperate On Notice)
“It is my great honor to nominate Emil Bove to serve as a Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Emil is a distinguished graduate of Georgetown Law, and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York for nearly a decade, where he was the Co-Chief of the Terrorism and International Narcotics Unit,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post.
“Emil is SMART, TOUGH, and respected by everyone. He will end the Weaponization of Justice, restore the Rule of Law, and do anything else that is necessary to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Emil Bove will never let you down!” he added.
Bove is the latest of Trump’s judicial appointments, which began in early May. The Daily Caller asked White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in March when Trump would start making his more than 40 judicial appointments. At the time, Leavitt did not have an updated timeline but promised to provide a list of names being considered.
Nearly two months later, the White House provided the Daily Caller with the first six judicial appointments made by Trump. The president has already nominated a handful of Missourians to district courts as well as one individual to sit on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Among those already appointed are Joshua M. Divine of Missouri who was appointed to serve as judge on both the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and Western District of Missouri. Whitney Hermandorfer was nominated to the Appeals Court for the Sixth Circuit while she was currently serving as the director of the Strategic Litigation Unit in the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General.
“Couldn’t be prouder of my friend Emil Bove on his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. I’ve known Emil for years and his dedication to this country, along with his integrity and brilliant legal mind will make him an excellent judge. Well earned, my friend,” Todd Blanche, deputy attorney general and former Trump defense attorney, wrote in a tweet.
