President Donald Trump pardoned Democratic Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife, who were indicted by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) in May 2024 on charges related to allegedly accepting more than half a million dollars in bribes.
Trump announced the news in a Truth Social post on Wednesday, arguing the couple were a victim of weaponization by the Biden FBI. Cuellar, who had refused to resign from his post, was expected to face trial next year.
“For years, the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them,” Trump wrote. “One of the clearest examples of this was when Crooked Joe used the FBI and DOJ to ‘take out’ a member of his own Party after Highly Respected Congressman Henry Cuellar bravely spoke out against Open Borders, and the Biden Border ‘Catastrophe.’”
“Sleepy Joe went after the Congressman, and even the Congressman’s wonderful wife, Imelda, simply for speaking the TRUTH,” Trump continued.
