Trump Promises Merit-Based Revival, Targets Biden’s DEI Policies [WATCH]

At a Make America Great Again rally on Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump vowed to dismantle President Joe Biden’s “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates” in favor of restoring a merit-based system, as reported by Breitbart.

Speaking to a fired-up crowd at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, DC, Trump outlined his ambitious agenda to reverse Biden-era policies through a series of executive orders on his first day in office.

“Every radical and foolish Executive Order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of when I take the oath of office. Oh, you’re gonna have a lot of fun watching television tomorrow,” Trump declared, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Trump took direct aim at Biden’s DEI mandates, slamming them as destructive and divisive. “We’re going to stop the destructive and divisive Diversity Equity and Inclusion mandates all across government and private sector and return our country to the merit system,” he stated.

Pointing to the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision striking down affirmative action in college admissions, Trump highlighted the importance of prioritizing merit over identity politics.

“You know, the Supreme Court ruled that the United States is allowed to go by the merit system, which is what made us great in the first place,” Trump emphasized. “That was a big, big ruling that a lot of people don’t even know about, but that was a big, tremendous ruling.”

While Trump didn’t specifically cite the ruling, it’s clear he sees the decision as a victory for meritocracy and a rejection of race-based policies.

He further underscored the importance of competence in hiring decisions.

“And you’re focusing on character, competence, qualifications in all hiring decisions.”

“Now, you’re allowed to go by competence, ability, and genius. You don’t have to hire somebody to send up one of his rocket ships that doesn’t know anything about what’s happening.”

Trump initially promised to eliminate DEI programs across the federal government following the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in 2023. His stance has already created ripples, with many private-sector companies phasing out DEI initiatives in anticipation of his return to office.
