The latest jobs report, released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), indicates that U.S. citizens are now seeing the majority of employment gains under President Donald Trump’s administration, marking a shift from trends under Joe Biden.

The U.S. economy added 139,000 jobs in the most recent month, surpassing the forecast of 125,000.

The report also showed a notable reduction in the federal workforce, with 22,000 government jobs eliminated.

White House Director of Policy Communications Jacki Kotkiewicz highlighted a major development in the employment data: the reversal in job distribution between citizens and non-citizens.

Citing BLS figures, Kotkiewicz noted that since President Trump took office, U.S. citizens have gained approximately 1.25 million jobs, while foreign-born workers have seen a net loss of nearly 200,000 jobs.

Under President Trump, native-born workers have accounted for ALL employment gains. 💪💪

➡️Native born employment: +1,249k

Over a similar period in Biden’s final two years in office, native-born Americans accounted for just ONE-THIRD of gains.

The employment decline among foreign-born workers does not account for individuals working without legal authorization, including those who may have been deported since Trump resumed office.

The figures strictly refer to legal non-citizen workers counted in federal employment data.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, job growth was often touted as a sign of economic recovery.

However, several independent labor economists noted that a significant share of those gains went to foreign-born workers, including non-citizens who were legally authorized to work in the United States.

The BLS tracks job data by nativity, including native-born and foreign-born employment status, which reflects the broader demographic shifts in the labor market.

In contrast, the trend under President Trump has seen citizen employment outpace that of foreign-born workers.

This development is in line with the administration’s stated policies on immigration enforcement and domestic labor prioritization.

President Trump has emphasized reducing illegal immigration and limiting foreign labor in sectors where Americans are actively seeking employment.

Thanks to President Trump, the days of American workers and industries being ripped off are OVER.

America will offer companies the lowest taxes, energy costs, and regulations if they make their products here and hire American workers for the job.

Policies enacted since returning to office have included enhanced E-Verify enforcement, increased interior removals, and restrictions on new guest worker visas in industries with high native unemployment.

The latest data aligns with the administration’s focus on restoring citizen job access as part of its broader economic agenda.

In speeches and public statements, Trump has reiterated that American workers should be the first beneficiaries of job creation efforts, especially as the nation continues to stabilize economically after years of inflation and pandemic recovery.

The job gains also come as other economic indicators suggest a gradual cooling of the labor market.

Despite the positive overall numbers, economists have warned of slowing momentum in sectors such as manufacturing and tech.

However, job growth in healthcare and hospitality continued to remain strong, according to the BLS.

The administration has credited its focus on domestic energy expansion, tax and regulatory reform, and workforce enforcement for the improved job figures for U.S. citizens.

Officials have also pointed to reductions in government employment as a sign of a leaner and more efficient federal workforce.
