President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will publicly disclose the names of entities and individuals who have received billions in taxpayer dollars through what he described as “tremendous fraud.”
Speaking during a briefing in the Oval Office, Trump said the revelations will come in a scheduled press conference on Thursday, where he will present specific cases of government waste uncovered by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk.
Addressing reporters, Trump emphasized the scale of wasteful spending uncovered in various federal agencies, including USAID, the Department of Education, and FEMA.

“Tremendous fraud—there’s tremendous fraud. And it’s hard to believe that you can have that kind of fraud,” Trump said.
He stated that during the press conference, he would disclose details on where the money has gone, including names of organizations and individuals that have received hundreds of millions, if not billions, in federal funds.
“What we’re going to do is tomorrow [Thursday], I’m having a news conference. I’m going to read to you some of the names that hundreds of millions and even billions of dollars have been given to, and if you tell me that we should be giving money to those things, those entities, I think you’ll probably have to leave as a reporter because you’re not very talented,” Trump said.
Trump asserted that the scale of spending suggests there is widespread corruption within the federal government. He pointed to the ease with which large sums of money were disbursed with little oversight.
“When you look at the kind of money, billions and billions of dollars being thrown away illegally, and there’s no chance—I mean, I say in front of our attorney general [Pam Bondi]—there’s no chance that there’s not kickbacks or something going on,” Trump stated.
He provided an example of individuals receiving significant payments for minimal work.
“When you give millions and millions of dollars to somebody that stands to look at something for 15 minutes and walks away with millions of dollars, that money’s coming back in some form—and that’s only one form of corruption.”
In addition to identifying beneficiaries of what he called “rampant fraud,” Trump said he would also present examples of wasteful expenditures discovered by DOGE.
“The biggest thing is what they do to our country, they’re taking massive amounts of money and spending it on items. I went through a list of 200 expenditures that were made, and I found three that looked like they were reasonable. Okay, three. And we’ll be talking about that tomorrow,” Trump said.
Trump also commended DOGE chief Elon Musk for his role in uncovering financial mismanagement across federal agencies.
“We have a lot of stuff, and I want to commend Elon because he’s done a fantastic…” Trump said.
He acknowledged the personal criticism Musk has faced for his involvement in government efficiency efforts but defended his credibility in identifying fraud.
“He doesn’t need this, you know. He’s abused by you people every day. He’s found more things than anybody could find. I think he’s got the credibility to do it. I know he does,” Trump said.
Trump noted that DOGE, which started with a small investigative team, has grown rapidly as more people join the effort to expose fraud.
“It’s his group of people, you know, they started off with 12. I call them 12 geniuses; they started off with 12 and they went to 20 and 25 (staffers), and now they’re up to almost 100. People are joining to help them because there’s a massive fraud that’s taken place,” he said.
