On the one-year anniversary of the attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, President Donald Trump released a video Sunday highlighting moments from his life, business career, and time in public office, culminating in footage from the July 13, 2024, incident.
The 91-second video shared on social media marks the anniversary of the day a bullet struck Trump’s ear while he was on stage during a campaign event.
The video opens with a montage of Trump’s career and public life, described as his “mythical story,” and builds up to the moment when he raised his fist in the air while bleeding from the head — an image that quickly became symbolic of defiance and survival.

The tribute features audio clips from several of Trump’s speeches, including his 2017 Liberty University Commencement address.
“What will future Americans say we did in our brief time here on Earth? It will be defined by your vision, your perseverance, and your grit,” Trump said in the clip.
Another segment includes remarks from Trump’s speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, delivered just days after the shooting in Butler that left rallygoer Corey Comperatore dead and two others wounded.
“We are Americans. Ambition is our heritage. Greatness is our birthright,” Trump stated during his RNC address.

One year ago today, an assassin opened fire on President Donald J. Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The bullet hit—but by the grace of God, he stood up. Bloodied. Unbowed. And he fought harder.

In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, many attendees at the RNC told Breitbart News they believed divine intervention played a role in Trump’s survival.
Detroit Pastor Lorenzo Sewell said, “We saw the hand of the good Lord protect him,” referencing prayers offered for the President before the rally.
“The Bible makes it very clear: prayer is preventative, prayer is proactive, and we prayed for him a month ago, and then last week,” Sewell said.
“Whether you love Trump or hate Trump, at the end of the day he triumphed because of the answer to prayer.”
Tennessee delegate and Maura County GOP vice chair Lona Heins echoed those sentiments, telling Breitbart News, “Evil has a plan, but God’s plan is bigger.”
“If he had turned his head just a tiny bit, we’d be planning something completely different,” she said.
“The fact that he survived it and evil was thwarted is proof that God has a plan and a purpose for him, and it’s for us, to serve us to help us.”
President Trump himself has stated that he believes divine protection spared his life that day.
He explained that he had turned his head to look at an immigration chart when the shot was fired, which altered the bullet’s trajectory.
“I turned to the right to look at the chart, and I said, ‘Wow. What was that? What was that?’ So, you never know, but God did that. I mean, it had to be,” Trump said.
Reflecting on the experience, Trump added that the incident deepened his faith.
“Honestly, it changed … something in me,” he said.
“I feel even stronger. I believed in God, but I feel much more strongly about it; something happened.”
