Sean Curran, the Secret Service agent who put his life on the line to protect President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, has officially taken the reins as the director of the U.S. Secret Service.

As reported by Fox News, Curran was sworn in on Monday by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during a ceremony in the Oval Office, with President Trump standing by his side.

Noem praised Curran’s dedication, saying:

“Sean’s brave actions when he risked his life to help save President Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, is a testament to his dedication to the mission of the U.S. Secret Service.”

She added that with his extensive experience, Curran will ensure the agency returns to its core mission: protecting America’s leaders and financial system. “I look forward to working alongside Sean to ensure that the Secret Service is stronger than ever before.”

Curran became a household name after his heroic actions on July 13, when he and fellow agents charged onto the stage to shield Trump from an assassin’s bullet.

The attack, which took place at a campaign rally in Butler, left two dead, including 50-year-old firefighter Corey Comperatore, and injured two others.

Trump himself suffered an ear wound but quickly regained his footing, blood streaming down his face, and raised a defiant fist to the roaring crowd—a moment captured in now-iconic images.

Trump never wavered in his support for the men and women who put their lives on the line for him that day.

Despite criticisms of the security failures that allowed the attack to happen, the 47th president made it clear that the blame lay with the advance team, not the agents who stood between him and a potential assassin.

“Trump wanted someone he could trust, and they clearly have formed a bond after Pennsylvania,” former Secret Service agent Bill Gage noted in January.

Curran, who has kept a relatively low profile, has become somewhat of a folk hero, with supporters even celebrating him on TikTok.

His appointment comes in the wake of a major shake-up within the Secret Service, including the resignation of former Director Kimberly Cheatle, whose leadership was widely scrutinized following the security lapse in Butler.

With Curran now at the helm, conservatives are hopeful that the Secret Service will regain its focus and integrity, ensuring that no future security blunders put American leaders at risk.
