More than 550 arrests have been made in Washington, D.C., since President Donald Trump launched his federal crime crackdown earlier this month, according to data released by the White House, as reported by Fox News.
The effort, which began on August 7, has included the recovery of firearms, narcotics, and the removal of dozens of homeless encampments.
On Tuesday evening alone, authorities carried out sweeps that resulted in 91 arrests, including 25 involving illegal aliens.

White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told Fox News Digital that Trump’s initiative has cleared hundreds of violent offenders from the streets.
“Thanks to President Trump’s bold actions to Make DC Safe Again, more than 550 dangerous criminals have been removed from the streets of our nation’s capital.”
Rogers added that the arrests included gang members, such as an MS-13 suspect, and individuals tied to armed robberies and narcotics distribution.

Officials said eight firearms were recovered in Tuesday’s sweep, along with drugs ranging from marijuana and cocaine to methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Photos provided by the White House showed handguns, a knife, and a backpack filled with small baggies of suspected narcotics.
Additional arrests included charges of assault on a police officer, driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and outstanding warrants related to child abuse resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter.
The White House confirmed that 48 homeless encampments across the city have been dismantled as part of the ongoing effort.
Trump federalized the D.C. police department on August 11 following a series of violent incidents, including the June shooting death of congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers in May, and an August assault on a former Department of Government Efficiency staffer.

The federalization move followed Trump’s March executive order creating the Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force.
Under Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, Trump assumed control of the Metropolitan Police Department for 30 days, deploying federal and local resources in coordinated sweeps.
Nearly 2,000 law enforcement officials participated in Tuesday night’s operations, including personnel from the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Capitol Police, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Metropolitan Police Department.
National Guard members have also been deployed to support the operation, though they are not making arrests.

Democrats have criticized Trump’s decision to federalize the D.C. police, arguing that crime data suggested violence was declining.
However, the Metropolitan Police Department’s crime statistics are currently under Department of Justice review following allegations of data manipulation to produce more favorable trends.
At a press conference on August 11, Trump said the federal action was necessary to restore safety.
“Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs and homeless people. And we’re not going to let it happen anymore. We’re not going to take it.”
