Late-night comedian Bill Maher blasted Democrats Friday evening on his weekly show “Real Time,” saying that the “problem in a nutshell” for the Democratic Party is its out-of-touch “woke” ideology and how quick its politicians are to treat voters like they are “stupid.”
“Yeah, I got bad news for you. They don’t got a monopoly on stupid,” Maher said of Republicans, calling out Democrats for casting stones while having their own “stupid” shortcomings. “You wear Queers for Palestine t-shirts. And masks two years after the pandemic ended. And you can’t define woman — I mean, ‘person who menstruates.’”
“You’re the Teacher’s Union Education Party and you’ve turned schools and colleges into a joke,” the “Real Time” host remarked as a headline detailing falling education rates appeared beside him on screen.

The comedian said the traditional Democratic voters wanted Vice President Kamala Harris to distance herself from what the party has become: “A Portlandia sketch.”
Maher called Democrats “a bunch of privileged mean girls” out of touch with the American people. He slammed the Left’s identity politics excuses for Harris’s defeat, saying “racism” was out of the question because former President Barack Obama won two terms and “sexism” was a moot point because 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 3 million ballots. “Democrats run for office as if the voters don’t live here. As if they don’t go to the grocery store and Starbucks and the office, but they do. They live here and they actually see women and people of color. And it doesn’t look like some patriarchal racist nightmare,” he said.
The “Real Time” host said Harris spent her entire campaign saying “fuck your feelings” to average Americans concerned about kitchen table issues. He criticized Democrats for condescendingly running campaigns as the “smart people.”
Maher compared the Democratic Party to a “royal family.” He urged them to stop looking down on Americans with different opinions — the other half of the country — and to have productive conversations instead.
“Stop screaming at the people to get with the program and instead make a program worth getting with,” Maher said.
“Try making too woke be a cancelable offense!” he added. “It’s important for America to have a center left party, and for that party to be competitive. And a good first step toward that goal would be to make the voters not want to punch you in the face.”
Maher blamed “aggressively anti-common sense” Democrats with “shitty, exclusionary” attitudes for losing the presidency, both chambers of Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court.
“You lost everything. House, Senate, White House, Supreme Court, and left us completely unprotected and ready to be violated,” he said. “Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!”
