President Donald Trump directly accused former President Barack Obama of leading a coordinated effort to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, following the public release of documents by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Speaking in a recent statement, President Trump claimed the documents confirm that Obama was the central figure in an effort to undermine his candidacy.
“Barack Hussein Obama is the ringleader,” President Trump said.
“Hillary Clinton was right there with him and so was Sleepy Joe Biden, and so were the rest of them — Comey, Clapper, the whole group. And they tried to rig an election and they got caught.”

Trump’s comments follow a declassified release by DNI Tulsi Gabbard that included internal memos and intelligence briefings related to the origins of the Trump-Russia narrative.
The documents, made public earlier this week, have reignited scrutiny over claims made by senior officials in the Obama administration and Democratic political figures in 2016 and beyond.

In response to President Trump’s accusations, Barack Obama’s spokesperson, Patrick Rodenbush, issued a public statement attempting to push back on the claims.

However, Gabbard indicated that a new round of documents will be released imminently, which she says will directly challenge Obama’s remarks.

“We will be releasing further documents tomorrow that will refute that statement,” Gabbard said in an interview on Newsmax.
She added that the upcoming material would include direct quotes and media narratives promoted by senior Obama-era officials and prominent media outlets.
“We will be pulling a whole host of statements that were made by the Obama administration, by Hillary Clinton, by senior Democratic officials, by their friends in the media that state over and over again, after this Jan. 2017 manufactured intelligence document was created, that repeat the narrative,” Gabbard said.
“And I’m looking at my notes here; New York Times says Russian hackers worked to aid Trump in the election.”

The document she referred to is believed to be the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), which asserted that Russian operatives interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the intent of helping Donald Trump.
That assessment became a foundational document in the justification for the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation and the subsequent Mueller probe.
Gabbard’s remarks suggest that her office has obtained internal communications and supporting evidence that call into question the authenticity and political motivations behind the 2017 intelligence report.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is also implicated in the released documents.
She had repeatedly stated in public forums that she believed Russian hackers cost her the 2016 election.
Clinton claimed that if not for foreign interference, she would have won the presidency, a claim Gabbard referenced in her Newsmax interview.
“Hillary Clinton said she would’ve won the 2016 election if it weren’t for these phantom Russian hackers,” Gabbard said.
The DNI also emphasized that the forthcoming release will include what she called “receipts” — supporting documentation that her office believes directly contradicts prior statements from Democratic officials and mainstream media outlets.
Gabbard did not provide specific names of additional individuals whose communications may be disclosed in the upcoming document release, but she suggested the scope of the material would be extensive and include both government and media actors.
