Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has launched an official investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci’s involvement in U.S.-funded gain-of-function research and its potential connection to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The probe will examine Fauci’s role in authorizing and supporting high-risk research, including at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which has been identified as the most likely source of the initial COVID-19 outbreak.
Nearly five years after the first COVID-19 cases were reported in Wuhan, China, the Trump administration is seeking accountability and transparency.

Gabbard’s investigation, titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19,” is focused on identifying whether gain-of-function research — experiments that enhance the transmissibility or virulence of pathogens — played a role in the emergence of the virus.
“We have initiated a formal inquiry into the origin of COVID-19, specifically the role of gain-of-function research and its funding,” Gabbard said in a recent appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show podcast.
She also revealed the formation of a dedicated unit under her office, the Directors Initiative Group, which will oversee investigations into COVID-19’s origins and other national security matters.
Gabbard stated that the investigation will examine U.S. ties to research at foreign bio-laboratories, including the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where researchers conducted experiments involving bat coronaviruses.

“We are working closely with [NIH Director] Jay Bhattacharya and [Health and Human Services Secretary] Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,” Gabbard said.
“We are specifically looking into gain-of-function research that was funded by the United States and its implications for global health and security.”
HOLY SH*T!! We know why Fauci requested a preemptive pardon!

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has come under increased scrutiny for his role in approving grants that were routed through EcoHealth Alliance, an organization headed by Peter Daszak.
EcoHealth Alliance collaborated with Dr. Shi Zhengli — often referred to as the “bat lady” — on coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab.
During the podcast, Kelly raised the question of whether Fauci could be held legally responsible if funding tied to Daszak’s research contributed to the pandemic.
Gabbard pointed out that Fauci has repeatedly denied under oath any involvement in gain-of-function research.
She also questioned whether Fauci sought a preemptive pardon from Joe Biden before leaving office, suggesting potential concerns about legal exposure related to his previous testimony and actions.
China has continued to reject the lab leak theory.
The State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China recently released a statement denying any connection to the origins of COVID-19, describing the lab-origin hypothesis as “extremely unlikely.”
The statement cited a previous joint study with the World Health Organization, which concluded that the virus likely passed from bats to humans through an intermediary animal.
China’s report also pushed an alternative theory, claiming “substantial evidence” suggests the virus may have originated in the United States before spreading internationally.
It accused the U.S. of being a “weak link” in global health response efforts and undermining international cooperation in managing the pandemic.
The official investigation from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence marks a new phase in efforts to determine the source of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The focus on U.S. funding, laboratory safety practices, and possible misrepresentations by public officials could have far-reaching implications.
No official timeline has been released for the conclusion of the probe. Dr. Fauci has not issued a statement in response to the investigation.
