Two men searching for the legendary Sasquatch died after going missing on Christmas Eve in the Oregon wilderness.
The bodies of the hunters, aged 37 and 59, were discovered in a heavily wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington State, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities stated that the men appeared to have succumbed to exposure due to severe weather and inadequate preparation for the harsh conditions of the forest.

The men reportedly embarked on their expedition hoping to catch a glimpse of Bigfoot, with plans to return home in time for Christmas.
When they failed to arrive, a family member reported them missing to the Skamania County police at approximately 1 a.m. on December 25.
Over 60 volunteer search and rescue personnel participated in a “grueling” three-day search operation.
Teams battled freezing temperatures, snow, rain, and the dense terrain of the national forest to locate the pair.
The search effort included assistance from seven law enforcement agencies, the Coast Guard, and the use of drones, canines, helicopters, and ground teams.
On Saturday, authorities confirmed the discovery of the bodies, which brought an end to the extensive search.
“Their exhaustive search efforts resulted in bringing family members home to their loved ones,” the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
“The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the loved ones lost in this tragic incident.”
The men’s vehicle was initially located in Willard, Washington, using a Flock camera system.
This discovery provided critical information to guide search teams to the area where their bodies were ultimately found.
The fascination with Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot, has long been a cultural phenomenon in the Pacific Northwest.
Stories of a hairy, bipedal creature roaming the forests of Washington and Oregon have inspired countless enthusiasts to venture into the wilderness in search of evidence.
Washington State, in particular, celebrates its association with Sasquatch.
Local governments have even organized events such as “Sasquatch Hunts,” including one hosted by Pierce County.
However, the allure of Bigfoot isn’t limited to the Pacific Northwest.
In October 2023, residents of Fairfield County, Connecticut, reported eerie screams believed to be from the mythical creature.
The sounds, described as lasting up to 10 seconds each, emanated from a forested area near Monroe and were documented by the Bigfoot Field Research Organization.
An anonymous witness detailed the experience in a report published earlier this year, noting, “This voice had quite a bit of ‘power’ behind it and I could tell that it was carried over distance. I would ‘rough’ guesstimate at least two clicks [1.25 miles] from my cords.”
