President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday night that the United States military carried out airstrikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities, including the Fordow enrichment plant buried nearly 300 feet underground.
Trump announced the mission’s success on Truth Social just before 8 p.m., stating the Fordow site was “completely and totally obliterated.”
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump wrote.
“A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”

The strikes followed Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure earlier in the week.
Trump addressed the nation at 10 p.m. from the White House, alongside Vice President J.D. Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump said.
“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success,” he added.
“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
Trump cited the regime’s decades-long record of attacks against Americans, saying, “For 40 years, Iran has been saying, ‘Death to America, Death to Israel.’ They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs with roadside bombs — that was their specialty. We lost over 1,000 people and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate.”
The president said he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu coordinated efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
“We worked as a team, like perhaps no team has ever worked before,” Trump said.
“There are many targets left. Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill.”
Speaking to Fox News’ Sean Hannity following the address, Trump disclosed that B-2 bombers dropped six 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs on Fordow, while 30 Tomahawk missiles were launched by U.S. submarines at Natanz and Esfahan.

Both sites had previously been hit by Israeli forces.
The airstrikes marked the first U.S. military action on Iranian territory.
Trump had suggested as recently as Thursday that a decision could come “within the next two weeks.”
A source close to the White House said he made the final decision Friday to deploy “overwhelming force.”
On Wednesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that a U.S. strike would result in “irreparable damage,” though no specific retaliation plan was outlined.
Khamenei responded after the attack by posting on X: “With his absurd rhetoric, he demands that the Iranian people surrender to him… We will never surrender in response to the attacks of anyone.”
Asked about Khamenei’s remarks, Trump said: “I say good luck.”
Trump had previously authorized five rounds of direct talks with Iran through his special envoy Steve Witkoff, beginning in April.
The talks collapsed as Israeli strikes on June 13 escalated the situation. On Friday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said there would be no negotiations until “Israeli aggression stops.”
Netanyahu, whose forces have reportedly taken control of Iran’s airspace, praised the U.S. response.
“Congratulations President Trump, your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history,” Netanyahu said in a video statement.
Reactions from U.S. officials were mixed. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said, “The President made the right call, and did what he needed to do,” adding that congressional leaders had been informed of the threat.
The President made the right call, and did what he needed to do.
Leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) also backed the move, writing, “Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities.”
As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by @POTUS.

Meanwhile, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) criticized the action.
“This is not Constitutional,” Massie tweeted.

Ocasio-Cortez called it “grounds for impeachment.”
The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.
He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations.
It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.

A source close to the Trump administration said after the attack, “They [Iran] have no defensive military capability and no allies to help them — the Russians, Chinese and North Koreans have told them they’re on their own.”
The same source described the move as consistent with Trump’s earlier military decisions, comparing it to the 2019 operation against ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the 2020 strike on Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter warned of additional forthcoming actions.
“Let’s just say the world will understand how serious we are about stopping Iran’s capabilities,” Leiter said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly offered to mediate between Israel and Iran.
The offer was rejected by President Trump.
