Following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tense meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday, Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) did not hold back in her criticism, accusing Zelensky of disrespecting both Trump and the American people while rejecting an opportunity for peace.
Spartz, who was born in Ukraine, made her remarks during an interview with former Congressman and OANN anchor Matt Gaetz.
She expressed outrage over Zelensky’s behavior, calling it “a disservice to the Ukrainian people” and accusing him of playing politics instead of working toward a resolution to the ongoing war.
Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
Zelensky’s meeting with Trump was initially intended to finalize a U.S.-Ukraine rare minerals agreement, which was meant to compensate the U.S. for the hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars sent to Ukraine under the Biden-Harris administration.
However, following a heated exchange in the Oval Office, the deal was not signed, and a scheduled press conference between the two leaders was abruptly canceled.
A White House spokesperson later confirmed that no agreement had been reached.
According to Spartz, Zelensky’s refusal to agree to Trump’s conditions for a ceasefire demonstrates that he is not serious about ending the war.

“I don’t think they really want to stop Putin. They want to continue this bloodshed,” Spartz said.
Spartz strongly rebuked Zelensky’s behavior, stating that he acted “outrageously” and insulted the very country that has been one of Ukraine’s strongest allies.
“I don’t even understand why the president of a foreign country would insult the American people and the president of the country that is the only hope to save them from complete destruction,” Spartz said.
She criticized Zelensky for prioritizing “playing hero and politics” instead of working toward securing peace for Ukraine, stating that his failed leadership had put his country in a dangerous position.
“It’s such a disservice to the Ukrainian people to play hero and politics and try to increase his ratings, which miserably failed in his country because he failed to defend his country,” she added.
Spartz further pointed out that despite billions of dollars in U.S. aid sent to Ukraine, Zelensky continues to act entitled to more funding.
“Being so insulting to the American people after how much was done by us for Ukraine and for Europe—I cannot believe this. This is outrageous,” she said.
During her conversation with Gaetz, Spartz accused Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the war in order to keep U.S. funds flowing. She said that if he is so eager for continued funding, perhaps “stupid Europeans” will send him more money.
“I think the war will end—it just depends on which conditions,” Spartz said. “But unfortunately, the more Zelensky tries to do damage to the Ukrainian people, the worse it’s going to end up.”
She argued that Trump is the only leader who can push back against Putin, while Biden and Zelensky’s approach has been nothing more than empty rhetoric that has failed to prepare Ukraine for an effective defense.
“Everyone was making grandiose statements about how evil Putin is, including Biden and Zelensky, but they didn’t get the country ready,” Spartz said.
“They don’t even have weapons to fight Russians. Russia has a lot of garbage, but they have quantities. Ukraine has nothing, and now they’re sending people to die for nothing on the front lines.”
Spartz also revealed that Zelensky has spent millions of dollars on propaganda against U.S. lawmakers who have demanded oversight of American aid to Ukraine.
She stated that billboards in Ukraine have been used to smear her simply because she called for greater accountability on how U.S. funds were being spent.
“They put up different advertisements—billboards with my name—because I asked for oversight of Ukrainian aid that was sent to Ukraine,” Spartz said. “And they called me Putin, Kremlin, an asset, and all this nonsense.”
She warned that Zelensky has even gone so far as to spread anti-Trump messaging in Ukraine and Europe, while simultaneously demanding more money from the U.S.
“They’re spending money on propaganda to bash us,” she said. “And then they turn around and say, ‘We need to stop Putin.’ I mean, I cannot believe what these people want.”
Following Zelensky’s failed meeting with Trump, even some of the most vocal pro-Ukraine lawmakers, such as Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), are now calling for Zelensky to step down in order to allow peace talks to move forward.
Even pro-Ukraine RINO Senator Lindsey Graham is condemning Zelensky and calling for his resignation to negotiate a peace deal.

As Ukraine continues to struggle on the battlefield, Zelensky’s leadership is increasingly being questioned—not just by Trump and Spartz, but even by lawmakers who previously supported him.
Spartz made it clear that Trump is the only leader capable of negotiating an end to the war while protecting American interests.
“President Trump is his only hope,” Spartz said.
“But when he puts him in that position, Zelensky disrespects him. And when he’s acting like that, he’s not just insulting President Trump—he’s insulting the American people. That’s problematic.”
With U.S. patience wearing thin and international support wavering, Zelensky’s political future is now uncertain.
