There’s nothing as dramatic as what happened yesterday but there have been some small developments today. First, in case you missed it, the person who was detained yesterday in Rio Rico was released.
A man who identified himself as Carlos Palazuelos spoke to Telemundo in Spanish outside his house in Rio Rico, Arizona — the site of the law enforcement search Tuesday. Palazuelos confirmed his house was searched as per a warrant. His front and back door was damaged, he said…
He added that agents told him he looked like the person seen in security camera footage from Guthrie’s house, released by the FBI yesterday.
He said that while he is a delivery driver, he doesn’t remember if he delivered anything to Guthrie’s house.
Palazuelos said that he doesn’t know who Guthrie is and wasn’t involved in the kidnapping.
Presumably if they’d found anything incriminating during the search of his house, he’d have been arrested. So it looks like he’s not the guy.
This morning, TMZ is reporting that it received a new message from someone saying they could identify the person seen in the videos released by the FBI yesterday. However, this person is demanding payment for that information.
There’s a new note in the Nancy Guthrie case, but this one doesn’t seem to be from the kidnapper … instead, it’s from someone offering to give up information on the kidnapper.
TMZ received the note just before 5 AM PT, and the sender claims they’ve tried unsuccessfully to reach Savannah Guthrie’s brother, Camron, and her sister, Annie, by email and text. The note goes on, “If they want the name of the individual involved then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet. Time is more than relevant.”
TMZ points out that a bitcoin is worth about $66,000 right now, barely more than the $50,000 reward. If this person was serious they could just go to the police and cash in on the reward. So the question here is what kind of creep tries to cash in on someone’s misery by promising an ID he can’t deliver?
Meanwhile, authorities have started to search the roadway near Nancy Guthrie’s home.
The FBI announced Wednesday that numerous agents are conducting an “extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area” of Tucson, Arizona, in relation to the Nancy Guthrie investigation.
“We are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain especially cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways,” the FBI’s Phoenix office said.
It’s not clear what prompted this but police did find a black glove about a mile and a half from Guthrie’s home. A reporter for the NY Post was there when it was picked up.

The police probably aren’t thrilled at having the media watching them 24/7. On the other hand, they have received thousands of tips, some of which may turn out to be helpful.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported a surge in calls after releasing the video from Nancy Guthrie’s front doorbell camera.
Spokeswoman Angelica Carrillo said Wednesday the agency received 4,000 calls in the past 24 hours, though she clarified not all of them were connected to the Guthrie case.
NBC News is reporting that law enforcement were looking into a vehicle and collecting video, but it sounds like that may not have panned out.
Law enforcement officials were searching for a vehicle in Arizona that may be connected to the investigation, NBC News learned on Friday. Officials haven’t said if the vehicle or vehicles are definitively connected to any part of the crime, or if that lead has since evaporated.
A Circle K spokesperson told NBC News that law enforcement visited one of its convenience stores on Oracle Road in Tucson after “receiving a tip regarding a vehicle of interest, and our team has provided them access to the store’s surveillance video.”
The sheriff’s office said Saturday that authorities have not identified any vehicles connected to the case.
Finally, there is yet another search happening at Guthrie’s home.

That’s all for now but I’ll post developments below if I see anything significant.
