The White House unveiled a comprehensive new website Friday highlighting evidence that Covid-19 leaked from a Chinese laboratory.
Drawing on insights from a 2024 House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic report, the White House listed five pieces of evidence to support their conclusion that COVID-19 emerged from a lab in Wuhan, China.
One such piece of evidence is the assertion that “Wuhan is home to China’s foremost SARS research lab.” The website displays a Google Earth map which shows the proximity of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) to the Hunan Seafood Market, where the virus was said to have been discovered.

Researchers from the lab “were sick with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019,” according to the website. (RELATED: Fauci Doubles Down On COVID Origins, Says Natural Occurrence ‘More Likely’ Than Lab Leak)
The website listed three additional pieces of evidence, namely that the virus “possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature,” that data shows all cases “stem from a single introduction into humans” and that “if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced.”
The webpage also took aim at the notorious “Proximal Origin” paper. The full paper, entitled “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,” was a publication in the science journal “Nature Medicine” which downplayed the lab leak theory in favor of a theory of natural origins.
The paper “was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated in nature,” according to the website.
Dr. Fauci allegedly prompted the paper’s main author, Dr. Kristian Andersen, to write it, according to an email Anderson sent to “Nature” that was obtained by the Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Dr. Andersen is a professor working with Scripps Research, who said he considered the evidence objectively, according to a letter obtained by the committee, a claim contradicted by an email from Andersen. “Our main work over the last couple of weeks has been focused on trying to disprove any type of lab theory,” he wrote, the report read. The website also mentions EcoHealth Alliance Inc. (EcoHealth), a non-profit organization which worked in tandem with the WIV to funnel U.S. taxpayer money from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) into gain-of-function research,
The webpage accuses former EcoHealth head Peter Daszak, who the Biden administration debarred, of obstructing the Select Subcommittee’s investigation by providing false statements to congress and doctoring documents.
Another man accused of obstruction was David Morens, a former aide to Fauci who seemingly bragged to Daszak about evading Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
“I learned from our FOIA lady here how to make emails disappear after I’m FOIA’d but before the search starts so I think we’re all safe. Plus I deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to GMail,” Morens wrote to Daszak in 2021, according to emails obtained by the Subcommittee.
Morens dismissed the emails as a joke during 2024 testimony to the Subcommittee.
Another alleged obstructionist was the Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), who engaged in a “multi-year campaign of delay, confusion, and non-responsiveness in an attempt to obstruct the Select Subcommittee’s investigation,” according to the website.
The website also lambasted “arbitrary” pandemic mitigation measures like social distancing, mask mandates and lockdowns.
“Prolonged lockdowns caused immeasurable harm to not only the American economy, but also to the mental and physical health of Americans, with a particularly negative effect on younger citizens. Rather than prioritizing the protection of the most vulnerable populations, federal and state government policies forced millions of Americans to forgo crucial elements of a healthy and financially sound life,” the website read.
The website accused the Biden administration of censoring alternate theories on the pandemic’s origins and dissenting opinions on treatment and public health officials of being misleading. The Biden Administration resorted to “outright censorship—coercing and colluding with the world’s largest social media companies to censor all COVID-19-related dissent,” the website read.
While many Democrats and left-leaning news organizations remain ambivalent about the pandemic’s origins, an increasing number of global health and intelligence agencies are declaring the lab leak theory to be more and more plausible.
In January, The New York Times reported that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had concluded “with low confidence” that the virus emerged from a lab in Wuhan. They join the US Department of Energy, who also concluded with low confidence, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), who concluded with moderate confidence that the virus emerged from a lab. In March, two German newspapers reported that Germany’s Foreign Intelligence Service (BND) estimated that the virus was 80-95 percent likely to have emerged from a lab. The outlets determined the BND likely made these estimates some time in 2020.
