Comments made by The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg about President Donald Trump and the ongoing situation involving Iran drew attention during a recent broadcast of the daytime talk show, as reported by Fox News.

During Tuesday’s episode of The View, the panel discussed developments related to tensions involving Iran, including rising oil and gasoline prices tied to the broader conflict.

As the discussion continued, Goldberg suggested the developments surrounding Iran were diverting public attention away from other issues she said had received less coverage.

Goldberg pointed specifically to the Jeffrey Epstein files and the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC Today show host Savannah Guthrie.

“It’s nutty as hell,” Goldberg said.

“And you’re right, every day it’s something new. And it’s, you know, I was thinking about it yesterday, because I thought, ‘Well, OK, why haven’t we been talking about Savannah Guthrie and what’s going on there? Why haven’t we — why have we not been talking about the Epstein files?’ Because that’s still there.”

She continued by suggesting the focus on Iran was deliberate.

“This is meant to get us so worked up that we are unable to see anything else.”

Other co-hosts on the panel responded to Goldberg’s comments during the segment. Co-host Sunny Hostin agreed with Goldberg’s suggestion that the situation felt like a political distraction.

“It’s a very ‘wag the dog’ feeling,” Hostin said.

The discussion referenced the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who has reportedly been missing for more than 30 days.

According to reports discussed on the program, the elder Guthrie is believed to have been kidnapped from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of northern Tucson.

Authorities believe the incident may have occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 1.

The conversation on Tuesday’s broadcast followed earlier remarks Goldberg made during a previous episode of The View in June, when she compared living in the United States to living in Iran.

That comment drew pushback from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin during the on-air exchange.

Griffin responded by pointing to differences between the two countries, including restrictions placed on women by Iran’s government.

“In the year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I step foot wearing this outfit into Iran right now,” Griffin said.

Goldberg disagreed with the comparison.

“It is the same,” Goldberg said. “Murdering someone for their difference is not good, whoever does it.”

Griffin repeated her argument during the exchange, stating that life in the United States was “very different” from living in Iran.

Goldberg responded with another remark referencing racial issues in the United States.

“Not if you’re Black,” Goldberg insisted.

Hostin then added, “not for everybody.”

Goldberg also made additional comments about President Trump during Monday’s broadcast of the show while discussing the potential consequences of military conflict.

“Basically, we are sending people in to lose their lives,” she warned. “Because we have seen how fighting goes. We knew we shouldn’t have gone into Afghanistan. We knew that, and they decided to do it anyway.

“So, now we are in the same position where someone who doesn’t seem to care that human beings are being sent to war and people’s sons and daughters. His kids aren’t going,” Goldberg said, referring to Trump.

The remarks came during an ongoing public discussion about U.S. actions related to Iran and the potential consequences of escalating tensions in the region.

Segments from the exchange quickly circulated online following the broadcast, drawing reactions across social media platforms as viewers debated Goldberg’s claims and the panel’s discussion.
