The discovery added urgency to the multi-agency search for Vance Luther Boelter, who remains at large.
Boelter, 57, is the primary suspect in the killing of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and the shooting of Democratic State Senator John Hoffman.
Governor Tim Walz confirmed that both lawmakers’ spouses were also shot during the incident.
Only Hoffman and his wife survived the attack.
Boelter was reportedly last seen fleeing from Rep. Hortman’s home dressed as a law enforcement officer.

Boelter had previously served on a state board alongside Hoffman, according to public records.
President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday that the FBI is now leading the investigation into the shootings.
In a statement, the president announced that a $50,000 reward is being offered for information “leading to the arrest and conviction” of Vance Boelter.
Federal and state law enforcement agencies have distributed photos of Boelter to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other border agencies in an effort to prevent him from fleeing the country.

Authorities believe Boelter may no longer be in the immediate area, raising concerns about a possible attempt to cross into Canada.
Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota and surrounding states remain on high alert.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released any additional information regarding potential motives or further persons of interest.
The shootings have sent shockwaves through Minnesota’s political and law enforcement communities.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Boelter’s whereabouts to contact the FBI or local law enforcement immediately.
