A female suspect was shot early Wednesday morning after she attempted to force her vehicle through the security gates of CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, the incident occurred just hours after the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., prompting heightened security across the region.

According to CBS News, the woman, whose identity has not been released, failed to comply with verbal commands from security personnel and continued to drive toward the gate.

CIA officers responded by opening fire, striking the driver in the upper body. Authorities confirmed the woman sustained non-fatal injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently on-site and leading the investigation into the attempted breach. A spokesperson for the CIA confirmed to NBC News that the agency’s main gate has been closed and employees were advised to use alternate entry routes.

Fairfax County Police responded to the scene at the 900 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard around 4 a.m. to assist with traffic control and perimeter security.

The FBI has not released any details regarding the woman’s background or motive. Authorities have not publicly linked the incident to the attack on Israeli diplomatic personnel that took place hours earlier in Washington, but the timing has raised concerns.

Late Tuesday night, two staffers from the Israeli Embassy in D.C. were shot and killed in what officials are investigating as a politically motivated attack.

Federal officials have not confirmed whether the two events are connected, though the proximity in time and geography has placed the region on high alert.

This is not the first time the CIA headquarters has been the target of a security incident this year. In March, a 28-year-old man named Robert Scofield fired multiple rounds at the building before turning the gun on himself. He was taken into custody following a standoff with negotiators.

Authorities say the current incident remains under investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available. The woman involved in the CIA breach has not been charged as of Wednesday afternoon.
