WSJ: Trump Really Did ‘Kick Epstein Out of Mar-a-Lago for Being a Creep’ – In 2003

Whaddaya know – Donald Trump has told the truth about Jeffrey Epstein. So says the Wall Street Journal, which hasn’t exactly been a friendly source for Trump or the administration the past couple of years, especially on the Epstein Files.

In fact, their “exclusive” report today springboards off of one of their inglorious moments on this subject – their breathless report on Jeffrey Epstein’s birthday book in 2003. The WSJ claimed that Trump had created a message within a sketch of a naked woman, with his signature representing pubic hair. Trump threatened to sue the WSJ for that claim, and strenuously denied ever creating the message or signing it. The message itself not only had nothing to so with those allegations, but as I wrote at the time, it looked more like a parody of Trump written by someone else. The story didn’t mean much anyway, since it would have taken place a few years before law enforcement began investigating Epstein for sex trafficking, and at a time when Trump had never denied socializing with Epstein.

However, it did lead the WSJ to keep drilling into the Trump-Epstein timeline, and that uncovered the event that prompted Trump to cut ties with Epstein. And it turns out that Trump had told the truth about the event, which also took place in 2003:

Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t just a frequent visitor to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The club was also sending spa employees—usually young women—to Epstein’s nearby mansion for massages, manicures and other spa services, according to former Mar-a-Lago and Epstein employees. …

The spa occasionally provided house calls for members. Epstein wasn’t a dues-paying member of the club, but Trump told staff to treat him like one, the employees said. Epstein had an account at the spa where his companion, Ghislaine Maxwell, booked appointments on his behalf.

They came to a halt in 2003, after an 18-year-old beautician returned to the club from a house call to Epstein and reported to managers that he had pressured her for sex, former employees said.

A manager sent Trump a fax relaying the employee’s allegations and urged him to ban Epstein, some of the former employees said. Trump told the manager it was a good letter and said to kick him out.

That matches up with the consistent story Trump has told about Epstein. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt gave the WSJ an I told you so via text message in response:

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that the Journal was “writing up fallacies and innuendo in order to smear President Trump.”

“No matter how many times this story is told and retold, the truth remains: President Trump did nothing wrong and he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar a Lago for being a creep,” Leavitt said in a text message.

The WSJ notes that Mar-a-Lago aestheticians and spa workers had begun warning each other about Epstein previous to this incident. However, all of these employees were “typically licensed,” which means they were adults. The young woman in this incident was 18 years old at the time it occurred. Furthermore, this appears to be the first time that the employees raised this concern all the way to Trump himself. As soon as Trump heard about it, he acted to cut off Epstein’s access to Mar-a-Lago and stopped socializing with him at the same time.

That’s certainly more than a lot of people in Epstein’s orbit did. One could ask Larry Summers about that, and Hakeem Jeffries’ campaign team too. Law enforcement only heard about allegations of predatory behavior with minors three years later, from others. By that time, Trump had cut ties with Epstein, although they did communicate while competing over a Palm Beach property in 2004.

What about the lawsuit? That case appears to be active still, although the WSJ and News Corp moved to dismiss it three months ago. They argued that the story was true and that the defamation claim was an affront to the First Amendment. Given the timing of this new revelation, the claim to truth may be a bit shakier, although the issue of proving actual malice under the Sullivan standard remains for Trump.

Nevertheless, this at least corroborates Trump’s longstanding claim that he cut off Epstein as soon as he found out that Epstein was attempting to importune Mar-a-Lago employees. Will the Protection Racket Media drop it now? I know which way I’m betting for 2026.
