President Donald J. Trump has announced that he will once again donate his presidential salary, continuing a practice he began during his first term in office.
The confirmation came during a recent interview, where Trump directly addressed the issue before it was even raised, as reported by Gateway Hispanic.
“They told me before this that you’d probably ask if I’m going to contribute my salary again, but you haven’t asked. Yes, I will,” Trump said.
Trump’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: What Could It Mean For Your Money?
Throughout his presidency, Trump has declined the $400,000 annual salary allotted to the Commander-in-Chief, opting instead to donate it quarterly to various federal departments and initiatives.
Past recipients include the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Funds have also gone toward combating the opioid crisis and supporting the preservation of American historical sites.
Trump noted that no other modern president has matched this level of personal contribution.
“There’s no other president, they say—with the possible exception of George Washington—and they’ve checked the records. We’ve had wealthy presidents before, but no other president has contributed as much.”

The gesture recalls the example of George Washington, who declined a salary when he became the first president of the United States, setting a precedent of selfless service. Trump’s continued donations are seen by supporters as an extension of that tradition.
During his first term, Trump’s salary donations were typically announced through White House press releases and accompanied by documentation of the transactions. Each quarterly donation was designated for a specific federal agency or public need.
While this renewed pledge was met with approval from Trump’s supporters, it received little attention from major media outlets.
His commitment, however, circulated quickly on social media platforms and conservative media, where it was framed as yet another example of Trump following through on promises.

President Trump, now in his second term, has often contrasted his own actions with those of career politicians, arguing that his financial independence allows him to act in the best interest of the American people rather than special interests.
Trump’s announcement was brief, but it carried a broader message about his governing philosophy—he intends to continue leading by example.
