Legendary actor Bill Murray was recently caught in a fiery altercation with a fan inside a New York City movie theater, prompting a mix of reactions online.
The incident, which occurred on March 27 at the AMC Lincoln Square 13, was captured on video and has since gone viral on TikTok.
In the footage, the 74-year-old Ghostbusters star is seen confronting an unidentified man in the theater lobby.

With an agitated tone and stern body language, Murray pointed his finger in the fan’s face and issued a sharp warning.
“You attack me like that again, I’ll step on your foot,” Murray said, visibly irritated as security stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
As he was being ushered away by staff, Murray continued to scold the individual, accusing him of “physical assault.” The fan, who appeared to be taken aback, repeatedly apologized while Murray continued, “Don’t do it again.”
The clash occurred shortly after Murray had participated in a special Q&A event for his new film The Friend, in which he stars alongside Naomi Watts.

The actor was dressed in the same outfit during both the screening and the altercation, adding credibility to the timeline of the events.
While Murray has not publicly commented on the incident, The New York Post reported they reached out to his representatives for a statement.
Social media has since erupted with opinions over the confrontation. Some viewers took aim at Murray for what they perceived as an overblown reaction.
“You got your foot nudged in a crowd and called it assault? Be serious,” one user commented.
Others, however, came to the actor’s defense, citing the importance of respecting celebrities’ boundaries and personal space.
“Don’t understand people bothering these people like they’re some kind of gods. They’re actors, just people,” wrote one TikTok user.
“Bill Murray isn’t perfect,” another fan chimed in, “but everyone that I have known that has met him has had nothing but awesome things to say. Also, Bill is from the south side of Chicago… So he ain’t no punk.”

This confrontation comes on the heels of another controversial moment involving Murray earlier in the week.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with Naomi Watts, Murray forcibly kissed his co-star on the lips, catching both her and viewers off guard.
The incident unfolded during a Q&A segment when a fan asked Watts to name her best on-screen kiss. Before she could answer, Murray leaned in, pulled her hair back, and kissed her.
Afterward, he smiled, gave a thumbs-up to the camera, and joked, “That was too easy.”
Watts, visibly surprised, pointed out that he had lipstick on his face, to which Murray responded, “OK. Did I go red?”
Watts ultimately named her husband, Billy Crudup, as her favorite on-screen kisser, brushing past the awkward moment.
Between the viral confrontation and the controversial TV appearance, Murray has once again found himself at the center of public debate—highlighting the fine line between eccentric charm and overstepping boundaries.
