Young Men Aren’t Slacking Off. They’re Being Boxed Out By Cheap Replacements

Does anybody like young men? They appear acceptable objects of scorn from the left and the right alike. Sometimes the complaints are indistinguishable. Young men are spoiled. They expect too much – of the economy, of women, of life. The path to manhood, one is told, is not just to grin and bear hardship for the sake of a greater end, but for the sake of nothing at all. “You will have nothing – not a house, wife, children, well-paid job, or the respect of those for whom you’ve sacrificed – and you will be happy.” 

Amazingly, the GOP still thinks this is a good rhetorical strategy. At least, that’s the conclusion one draws after listening to some Republicans diagnose cultural problems in America. If Republicans can’t be bothered to pretend to like male voters under thirty, they jeopardize the future of their party.
