Virginia Attorney General candidate Democrat Jay Jones’ disturbing texts shocked many but they reflect a growing sentiment among some left-leaning voters, according to a statement and screenshots shared with the Daily Caller.
The Family Foundation Action (FFA), a faith-based organization in Virginia, recently alerted voters via text about the alarming messages reportedly sent by Jones. The Democrat candidate sent them to Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner in 2022, saying he would give former Republican Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert “two bullets to the head” and urinate on his grave, according to messages first obtained by the National Review.
Jones issued a statement Oct. 3 taking full responsibility and apologizing to Gilbert and his family. (RELATED: ‘He Should Step Out’: Former Biden Official Meghan Hays Torches Jay Jones Over Disgusting Texts)
Several voters reacted to the Family Foundation Action’s Get Out The Vote (GOTV) outreach — and some of those replies were deeply alarming, according to screenshots obtained by the Daily Caller. A number of recipients allegedly sent explicit death threats, prompting an active police investigation and revealing just how divided — and radicalized — parts of Virginia’s left have become.

The text outreach included voters the FFA called “soft liberals,” meaning individuals who typically support liberal candidates but have crossed party lines at least once within the past four years.
Many of the messages echo Jones’s violent rhetoric toward Republicans, including lines such as, “I hope all the Republicans die. They’re ruining our country. If I could shoot them myself, I would,” according to the FFA. A separate text calls conservatives “inhuman cretins” who should “be put down swiftly without remorse,” a screenshot shows.

Another message compares Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters to Nazis and another states “Thank God, we need to kill more Nazis,” according to screenshots obtained by the Caller. One of the texts seemingly says they would take the leftists over “the fascist any day.” (RELATED: Media Goes Full Damage Control On Jay Jones Scandal That Could Cost Dems Virginia Election)
Victoria Cobb, President of the FAA, showed her dismay with the responses received in a statement obtained by the Caller. “If these are responses from the more moderate liberal voters, I’d be horrified to know what the left base activists would say. If viewing screen shots of Attorney General Candidate Jay Jones’ personal texts about wanting the children of a political opponent to die within weeks of Charlie Kirk’s assassination triggers one to pile on, it’s clear political violence has taken an alarming foothold in our body politic,” she said.
Coyner alleged Monday that Jones said if a few police officers died, it might prevent other people being killed in another 202o conversation.
Jones also leveraged a 2022 reckless driving charge, which carried a $1,500 fine, to conduct 1,000 hours of community service in 2023, crediting approximately roughly half to his political action committee Meet Our Moment (MOM), according to a report. However, he appears to have violated the official community service requirements, as MOM is registered with the Virginia Board of Elections but is not recognized as a nonprofit organization.
