Vice President J.D. Vance vowed to get rid of the drug cartels who ran “free” in the U.S. during former President Joe Biden’s administration during a Thursday appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
The vice president said President Donald Trump’s administration will continue its aggressive fight against the drug cartels and human traffickers who have committed heinous acts at the U.S.-Mexico border, stating they will “wage war” on them to ensure these individuals “get the hell out of our country.” The administration designated cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations” upon entering office, citing its role in bringing in lethal narcotics, violent criminals and gangs onto U.S. soil.
“Well our message to the drug traffickers is get the hell out of our country, your free ride is over because President Trump is back in the Oval Office,” Vance said. “You’re not welcome, you were never welcome according to the American people, but unfortunately you had President Joe Biden who allowed you to run free over the United States of America and President Trump has said ‘you’re terrorist organizations, we’re gonna go after you, we’re gonna wage war on you and certainly we want you out of the United States of America and that’s an important message of course.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Trump Designated Cartels As Terrorists. The vice president then sent a message to the angel families who lost loved ones at the hands of illegal immigrants, stating that it is “disgraceful” that the Biden administration allowed for these vicious actions to take place and that it will stop under Trump’s watch. The Biden administration held power during the brutal murders of 22-year-old Laken Riley, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray and 37-year-old Rachel Morin, a mother of five, at the hands of illegal immigrants.
The Trump administration has far surpassed the number of arrests of illegal immigrants during the Biden administration as it continues to carry out mass deportations of illegal migrant criminals. The administration arrested convicted child rapist Edgar De La Cruz-Manzo, a Jordanian national with ties to ISIS, and individuals associated with MS-13 and Tren de Agua.
The Trump administration further placed pressure on Mexico and Canada to take a more aggressive stance on illegal migration by placing 25% tariffs on both nations, which were soon postponed once the countries’ caved to the president’s requests. As a result, Mexico deployed 10,000 troops to the border and seized nearly $40 million worth of methamphetamine.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s actions are helping to combat the deadly fentanyl epidemic that has plagued the U.S., with more than 21,000 pounds of the drug being seized at the southern border during the final year of the Biden administration, according to Customs and Border Protection data. Mexico has further seized nearly 5 tons of meth, 453 kilos of cocaine and 55 kilos of fentanyl since deploying the national guard on Feb. 5, according to CBS News.
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is reportedly flying secret drones to hunt down fentanyl laboratories in Mexico and then share its finding with the Mexican government.
Border czar Tom Homan, who has overseen the arrests of illegal immigrants, said on Monday that U.S. Border Patrol encountered a total of 229 illegal migrants across the southern border, a stark drop from the average of 11,000 daily crossings during the Biden administration. Homan previously warned cartels they would be wiped “off the face of the earth” if they harmed Border Patrol.
