Advancing American Freedom (AAF) urged Senate Republicans not to back down on ending the Green New Deal in its review of the Senate’s text of the One Big, Beautiful Bill (OBBB), according to a document obtained by the Daily Caller.
The text reveals multiple “negative changes” from the one passed by the House of Representatives, including a “softer” approach to the Green New Deal, according to AAF, a conservative organization founded by former Vice President Mike Pence.
“The Senate continues many of the IRA green energy tax credits past 2040 for geothermal, nuclear and hydropower and allows many projects to qualify so long as they begin construction by 2035,” reads the AAFF statement.
The Senate’s version of OBBB removes a key measure from the House text by eliminating a provision requiring clean energy sources to begin construction within 60 days of the bill becoming law to have any chance of qualifying for tax credits, according to The Hill. Instead, these energy sources would have to start being built this year to receive the entire credit. (RELATED: House Passes Trump’s ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill’ In Massive Victory For Speaker Johnson)

American Energy Alliance President Thomas Pyle joined AFF in criticizing the Senate text’s approach.
“This directly contradicts President Trump’s campaign pledge to ‘terminate the Green New Scam,’” he said in a statement. “The Senate should not water down the House’s plan to quickly repeal the Biden-era green giveaways, which — if not repealed — would add trillions to the deficit and increase the cost of energy for hard-working families.”
“There is nothing beautiful about a Big Beautiful Bill that is loaded with special interest corporate welfare,” Pyle finished.
The Senate’s text raises a $4 trillion debt ceiling hike from the House bill to $5 trillion and increases the child and dependent care tax (CDCTC) tax credit, according to AFF. The organization claims raising the CDCTC “pushes stay-at-home parents into the workforce.”
The Green New Deal was introduced by Democrat New York Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Democrat Massachusetts Sen. Edward J. Markey in 2019.
