Joy Behar Stuns Audience, Agrees With Donald Trump on James Comey Case [WATCH]

The View co-host Joy Behar said Thursday that she agrees with President Donald Trump’s long-standing criticism of former FBI Director James Comey, who is now facing potential criminal charges, as reported by The Independent Journal Review.

Comey, who was fired by Trump in May 2017, is under scrutiny for allegedly lying to Congress during testimony he gave in September 2020.

That hearing is now part of a review overseen by Lindsey Halligan, a White House aide and Trump’s former personal attorney. Prosecutors are reportedly weighing whether to present the case to a grand jury in the coming days.

Behar, a vocal critic of Trump, acknowledged during Thursday’s broadcast that she shares the president’s disdain for Comey, though for different reasons.

“You know what, I don’t like Comey. I agree with Trump on this one. I don’t like what he did to Hillary,” Behar said. “I’m just saying. But I rarely have something that I agree with Trump on, so this is one thing.”

Behar was referencing Comey’s decision in October 2016 to notify Congress that investigators had found new emails relevant to the bureau’s closed inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state.

The Justice Department has guidelines instructing against law enforcement actions that could affect an election within 60 days of voting, and critics argued Comey’s move violated those standards.

The potential charges against Comey are not connected to the Clinton investigation but rather his 2020 testimony before Congress. During questioning from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Comey denied that he authorized leaks related to either the Trump or Clinton campaigns.

Cruz later pointed to claims from former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe that Comey had, in fact, given approval for him to leak information to The Wall Street Journal about the FBI’s investigation into allegations of Russian collusion with Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Those allegations of collusion were later discredited after years of inquiry, including special counsel investigations that found no evidence to support claims of a conspiracy between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard also referred Comey to the Department of Justice in July, citing what she described as possible criminal activity connected to the Obama administration’s handling of the Russia narrative.

Prosecutors are reportedly “nearing a decision” on whether Comey will be charged. If indicted, the case would mark another high-profile fallout from the FBI’s role in investigations tied to the 2016 election.
