Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk shared emotional remarks this week, revealing how she coped with the loss of her husband, conservative leader Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed seven weeks ago during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, as reported by TMZ.

Speaking Wednesday at the University of Mississippi during a Turning Point USA event, Erika told attendees that she couldn’t bring herself to sleep in her bedroom for weeks following her husband’s death.

“I lost my best friend,” she said, addressing the crowd of students and staff. According to Fox News, Erika described how she avoided entering her bedroom altogether, saying she couldn’t bear to face the space they once shared.

Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk reacts after finishing her speech during the memorial service honoring Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sept. 21, 2025. Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA was assassinated on Sept. 10, 2025.

The tragedy occurred during a public appearance in Utah, where Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, had been addressing students on college campuses about conservative values and free speech. Authorities said the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.

Erika explained that it took time to regain the strength to return to the couple’s bedroom. When she finally did, she said she chose to sleep on her late husband’s side of the bed that first night — a symbolic gesture that reflected both grief and resilience.

“It was the hardest thing I’ve done,” she told the audience, describing the emotional process of trying to resume normal routines in the weeks that followed.

Now serving as the CEO of Turning Point USA, Erika has dedicated herself to continuing her husband’s work.

During her speech, she thanked the students for their participation in the organization, saying their energy and involvement made her feel “deeply connected” to Charlie’s mission and legacy. “Your commitment keeps his vision alive,” she said.

Charlie Kirk’s leadership and activism had made him a defining figure in the conservative movement, particularly among young Americans on college campuses.

His passing sent shockwaves across the political landscape, with tributes pouring in from across the country — including from elected officials, colleagues, and Turning Point USA members.

Erika’s remarks at Ole Miss marked one of her first major public appearances since the tragedy, reflecting both the personal toll of the loss and her determination to lead the movement her husband built.

Through her leadership, Turning Point USA continues to promote the principles Charlie championed — freedom of speech, limited government, and the defense of American values — across universities nationwide.
