Comedian and commentator Adam Carolla addressed the impact of sanctuary city policies in a recent discussion, pointing to violent crime cases and arguing that certain policies have contributed to public safety concerns in major U.S. cities.

Carolla described what he sees as the consequences of lenient enforcement and immigration-related policies, focusing on the conditions that can emerge in areas with reduced oversight.

“Now we got a bunch of young guys, and they’re strapped up and they have weapons, and they’re living in a kind of underground existence,” Carolla said.

He added, “Yes, sh*t is going to happen.”

He argued that such outcomes should lead to accountability and potential legal action.

“But now, I mean the people and there’s going to have to be lawsuits,” Carolla said.

He acknowledged reluctance about litigation but suggested it may be necessary. “I mean, I hate to be litigious, and I hate people that are litigious, but we’ve seen it in the past, certainly through covid.”

Carolla said policies allowing sanctuary designations create risks when individuals are released back into communities.

“You’re not allowed to just announce your sanctuary city, take people and throw them back out on the street when your daughter gets executed by this person,” he said.

He added, “Somebody should be held accountable.”

He also criticized how some advocates respond to violent incidents tied to immigration debates.

“And so then you’re in this insane position where all the people that are pro immigration, legal immigration, sanctuary cities,” Carolla said.

He continued, “Well, this is bad news for them.”

According to Carolla, those who support such policies tend to minimize or dismiss incidents that conflict with their positions. “So what do they have to do?” he said.

“Well, they either don’t acknowledge it at all, or they kind of are dismissive of it.”

He added, “Because it’s their sh*t policy that got this person killed, and they literally have blood on their hands.”

Carolla also discussed migration patterns, arguing that individuals gravitate toward areas with more permissive policies.

“They let this happen. They welcomed it,” he said.

“He’s in Chicago because it’s a sanctuary city.”

He added, “We’re in. L.A. has a homeless problem because we’re easy on homeless people.”

He continued, “That’s why they come. They will migrate to where it’s easy.”

In addition to policy critiques, Carolla addressed how public figures respond to incidents involving law enforcement.

“Now, simultaneously, what you need to do is, if the nurse dude who’s kicking Suburbans and fighting with ICE guys, you have to go to his memorial,” he said.

He added, “So you have to make a big deal out of that guy.”

He referenced cases involving individuals injured or killed in confrontations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“Because he got shot by ICE while going and agitating with ICE,” Carolla said.

He also mentioned another case.

“And the woman who got shot going to run over ICE.”

Carolla argued that responses to such events often involve public displays of support.

“We have to go there. We have to release statements,” he said. “We have to say we’re with the family and blah, blah, blah.”

He contrasted those responses with what he described as a lack of attention in other cases.

“This is inconvenient right to us,” Carolla said.

He added, “So we’ll either ignore it, or we’ll make some sort of boilerplate, generic, something that has nothing to do with anything.”

Carolla also referenced political figures and public reactions following incidents.

“The thing that’s crazy, the people who do this are standing with Minnesota tonight,” he said.

He continued, “Yeah, it’s JB Pritzker.”

He described a public appearance by the Illinois governor.

“This is him putting flowers at the, make sure you take a picture of my fat ass squatting down to put some Posies down there,” Carolla said.

He added, “So he has to do a whole thing on that.”

Carolla concluded by highlighting what he sees as uneven attention given to victims. “But this woman, this 18-year-old, who’s executed by the illegal,” he said.

“Well, now that’s an issue.”
