The Department of Justice (DOJ) admitted Monday that less than 1% of the files related to Jeffrey Epstein have been made public.
The DOJ has released 12,285 Epstein-related files, with more than 2 million documents still being reviewed, according to a DOJ court filing.

Attorney General (AG) Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told a federal judge in the Monday filing that, “[T]here are more than 2 million documents potentially responsive to the Act that are in various phases of review,” adding that “substantial work remains to be done.” (RELATED: New Report Confirms Trump Kicked Epstein Out Of Mar-A-Lago After He Pressured Young Employee For Sex)
The records include documents, videos, photos, and audio stored in the FBI’s primary case management system, largely stemming from the bureau’s long-running Epstein investigations in Florida and New York. A July 2025 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) memo said a review of those materials uncovered more than 300 gigabytes of digital data and physical evidence.
The update comes after Congress passed the “Epstein Files Transparency Act” in November, which gave the DOJ a Dec. 19 deadline to release the files relating to Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in 2019.

Blanche said on Dec. 19 that the DOJ has begun publishing Epstein-related materials under the bill but will continue producing additional records on a rolling basis.

The DOJ released nearly 30,000 additional documents relating to the Epstein files on Dec. 23 that included allegations involving President Donald Trump. In late December, the DOJ said it had uncovered more than a million additional documents potentially tied to Epstein and warned the review and release process would take weeks, according to a CNN report.
Public attention on the Epstein files grew after the DOJ and FBI concluded in July that Epstein died by suicide in custody, and they found no evidence he kept a client list. The determination effectively ended the investigation into Epstein’s death.
