One year ago, within days of taking office, President Trump signed an executive order announcing that the United States would be withdrawing from the World Health Organization (WHO). Advance notice of one year was a requirement in order for a country to exit the WHO – one simply couldn’t ‘quit.’

That year has passed, and the president who doesn’t seem to forget a thing didn’t forget about this deadline either.

We have officially broken O-U-T of the Chinese tool Tedros’ and his crooked cronies’ malignant fiefdom. 

WHO rejects are acting like a girlfriend who got caught cheating on you and now refuses to give your high school ring back.

Today, the United States withdrew from the World Health Organization (WHO), freeing itself from its constraints, as President Trump promised on his first day in office by signing E.O. 14155.  This action responds to the WHO’s failures during the COVID-19 pandemic and seeks to rectify the harm from those failures inflicted on the American people.  Promises made, promises kept.

Like many international organizations, the WHO abandoned its core mission and acted repeatedly against the interests of the United States.  Although the United States was a founding member and the WHO’s largest financial contributor, the organization pursued a politicized, bureaucratic agenda driven by nations hostile to American interests.  In doing so, the WHO obstructed the timely and accurate sharing of critical information that could have saved American lives and then concealed those failures under the pretext of acting “in the interest of public health.” 

Even on our way out of the organization, the WHO tarnished and trashed everything that America has done for it.  The WHO refuses to hand over the American flag that hung in front of it, arguing it has not approved our withdrawal and, in fact, claims that we owe it compensation. From our days as its primary founder, primary financial backer, and primary champion until now, our final day, the insults to America continue.

Going forward, U.S. engagement with the WHO will be limited strictly to effectuate our withdrawal and to safeguard the health and safety of the American people.  All U.S. funding for, and staffing of, WHO initiatives has ceased.  The United States will continue to lead the world in public health, saving millions of lives and protecting Americans at home by preventing infectious disease threats from reaching our shores while advancing global health security through direct, bilateral, and results-driven partnerships.  We will continue to work with countries and trusted health institutions to share best practices, strengthen preparedness, and protect our communities through a more focused, transparent, and effective model which delivers real outcomes rather than the bloated and inefficient bureaucracy of the WHO.

Today, we right these injustices and bring an end to the bureaucratic inertia, entrenched paradigms, conflicts of interest, and international politics that have rendered the organization beyond repair.  We will get our flag back for the Americans who died alone in nursing homes, the small businesses devastated by WHO-driven restrictions, and the American lives shattered by this organization’s inactivity.  Our withdrawal is for them.

It doesn’t mean they’re not throwing a hissy fit and trying to get the cash. 

‘Requirements,’ the WHO says. ‘Have to pay up,’ the WHO says.

Like, you know what the answer to that is.

…WHO officials note that there are two requirements to leaving. The first is that one-year notice.

The other criteria is the potential problem. In order to leave, the U.S. has to pay all the dues it owes. And that’s a lot of money: $278 million for the 2024-2025 period.

The U.S. doesn’t plan to pay up. “The United States will not be making any payments to the WHO before our withdrawal,” the State Department told NPR in a statement. “The cost born by the U.S. taxpayer and U.S. economy after the WHO’s failure during the Covid pandemic — and since — has been too high as it is.”

SUCK A STONE

There is some interesting background on the far-sighted Americans we have to thank, back when politicians still routinely valued our sovereignty. They carved out an exception for the US when the WHO was birthed in the fetid bowels of the United Nations, somehow becoming an absolute requirement for all the nations on earth to belong to in perpetuity.

…The World Health Organization has 194 member nations. Officially, none of them can pull out of WHO. That’s according to its constitution, which has no clause that allows for withdrawal.

“This was not an oversight. It was very deliberate,” says Steven Solomon, WHO’s principal legal officer. “The drafters understood the historic struggles against the international spread of disease, and they saw how a truly universal organization would make the world safer. So they did not include a withdrawal clause.“

But there is one exception to this “no quitting” rule.

In 1948, as the U.S. joined through a joint resolution of Congress, it made an arrangement “reserving for itself, alone among countries, the right to withdraw,” explains Solomon.

They do realize that, for all the kicking and mindless squawking, a check won’t be in the mail.

…Gostin says leaving without paying up is “unlawful.”

But he adds: “I don’t think there’s anything stopping the president, because there’s no pending litigation and there’s no movement in Congress to stop him.“

Tantrums. The remaining member nations are all going to get together and bitch about it as a group next month. Probably many of them will be jealous, and a whole bunch of them are going to be mad about no more greenbacks.

Who cares. They hated us anyway. Let Bill Gates buy them cough syrup and ivermectin.

And the cope coming out of the WHO is astonishing – they’ve been ‘magnanimous.’

HOLY CRAP

They’ve permitted the US to participate in the flu data even as they admit the majority of the organization’s funding has always come from *checks notes* that same US.

…For the past year, Gostin says WHO has been “very upset with the United States leaving but has nonetheless been magnanimous.” He notes that WHO has permitted the U.S. to participate in events — like the meeting in February where countries share data about current strains of the flu to figure out the best formula for the next season’s flu shot. Traditionally, U.S. scientists and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have played a major role in those meetings. And WHO benefits from their expertise.

For your consumption, here’s what the WHO cost US taxpayers in the 2022-23 cycle. When you compare what the US gave them vice what China did?  I think you will find the numbers meet the threshold of ‘unfair onerous payments’ that President Trump references in his list of grievances against the WHO.

…As one of many first-day actions, Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, announcing the U.S. withdrawal from the WHO due to the organization’s alleged mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic, its “failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states.” Trump also criticized the organization for demanding “unfairly onerous payments” from the U.S. in comparison to other member states and from China in particular.

As our chart shows, the United States is indeed the largest contributor to the WHO. According to the latest figures published by the organization, the U.S. donated $1.28 billion to the WHO’s budget for the 2022-2023 biennium, including $218 million in assessed contributions, $1.02 billion in voluntary contributions and $47 million in contributions to a contingency fund for emergencies. China, in comparison, contributed a total of $157 million during the same period, including $115 million in assessed contributions. For the 2022-2023 period, the WHO’s total approved budget amounted to $10.4 billion, meaning that the U.S. contributed 12 percent to the approved budget. Since the budget includes a $2-billion shortfall in funds, the actual U.S. share of total WHO funding was higher at roughly 15 percent.

We’ve not only been the lone superpower but the only superchump, again letting China slide even as their bioweapons lab worked overtime to destroy our economy and wipe as many Americans out as possible.

This happened with the full cooperation and approval of the WHO director, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a repellent man who sometimes couldn’t seem to stop himself from gushing over the Communists as he worked feverishly to cover every lie about COVID’s origins.
