Rep Ilhan Omar Alleges ICE Pulled Over Her Son After Target Stop [WATCH]

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) alleged that her son was briefly detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minnesota and asked to provide proof of U.S. citizenship before being released, according to remarks she made during a local television interview, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Omar described the incident during an appearance on WCCO Sunday Morning with host Esme Murphy, saying the encounter occurred after her son stopped at a Target store.

According to Omar, ICE agents pulled him over and questioned his immigration status.

“Yesterday, after he made a stop at Target, he did get pulled over by ICE agents, and once he was able to produce his passport ID, they did let him go,” Omar said during the interview.

Omar did not specify the exact location of the stop beyond confirming it occurred in Minnesota. She also did not identify the ICE agents involved or provide documentation supporting her account.

In addition to the traffic stop, Omar claimed immigration agents had previously entered a mosque attended by her son. She said that encounter ended without incident and that the agents eventually left.

Following those events, Omar said she expressed concern to her son that he could be subjected to heightened scrutiny based on race and religion.

“I had to remind him just how worried I am, because all of these areas that they are talking about are areas where he could possibly find himself in, and they are racially profiling, they are looking for young men who look Somali that they think are undocumented,” Omar stated, according to CBS News.

ICE has not publicly confirmed the encounter described by Omar, nor has the agency issued a statement detailing whether her son was stopped as part of an enforcement action.

The comments come amid renewed attention on Omar’s own immigration history. While her son has not been accused of any criminal activity, Omar herself has been the subject of longstanding allegations related to immigration fraud.

Border Czar Tom Homan said during an interview Monday night on Newsmax that he requested Omar’s immigration records be reviewed in connection with allegations that she married her brother in order to help him obtain legal residency in the United States.

Homan cited what he described as credible allegations tied to Omar’s past immigration filings.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported on claims that Omar married Ahmed N. Elmi, who has been alleged to be her brother.

In 2017, Omar signed sworn divorce documents stating that she had not seen Elmi since 2011 and did not know anyone who could help her contact him.

In September 2019, additional information surfaced suggesting Omar may have married her brother and that her legal name may be Ilhan Nur Said.

Evidence cited at the time included a resurfaced 2013 tweet linking to a now-deleted Instagram post in which Omar referred to her father as Nur Said. The tweet was later deleted but preserved by online users before its removal.

Omar has denied wrongdoing related to those allegations and has continued to serve as a member of Congress representing Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District.

The congresswoman did not address the status of the immigration fraud allegations during her interview discussing the ICE encounter involving her son.
