Labour Axes ‘His Majesty’ From Government Logo and Branding

In the good old days, that ‘axing’ could have been literal. Ask anyone who ran afoul of Cromwell’s Reformers.

Nowadays, it just means that, under the cover of darkness and without a by-your-leave or ‘whachoo think if we‘ from anyone, Labour dropped the centuries of traditions and went with ‘UK.’

Seriously.

Just dumped it.

I can’t imagine this is going to be a popular move, even though, in practicality, it probably has little impact other than spending money they don’t have for stationery, stamp changes, and lots of resentment. 

I may be talking out of my butt, but I would have to think most home-grown Brits are rather fond of the old logo. Especially now, with everything quintessentially British seemingly under attack, including the intangibles that make one British.

When you’ve got Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary and a Muslim who might well be the next Prime Minister if Starmer is forced out, explaining how reasonable it really is to drop hundreds of ‘migrants’ into little towns at 3:30 in the morning.

You can’t have people making a fuss, you know?

Don’t forget what the Marxists did when they moved into Whitehall and No. 10.

They moved every beloved and revered dead English hero and sovereign out.

Labour has been accused of leading a “Marxist revolution at the heart of Government” after Whitehall is believed to be conducting a woke rebrand.

Instead of emblazoning the traditional “HMG” for “His Majesty’s Government”, on the official logo, top Tory Alex Burghart told GB News the new rebrand simply reads “UK Government”, dropping any reference to the King.

Speaking to GB News’s Political Editor Christopher Hope outside Parliament, Mr Burghart ripped into the revamp, saying the move was “classic Labour”.

When Sir Keir Starmer and MPs moved into Whitehall, the party received an avalanche of criticism after portraits of Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh were removed from No10, as well as ones of William Ewart Gladstone and Margaret Thatcher.

It’s such an embarrassment to the British Labour government to be, like, BRITISH.

…Discussing Labour’s tendency to challenge tradition, Mr Burghart said: “I think there is definitely a strain within the Labour Party that is embarrassed about our history, that is embarrassed about our country.

“It’s the same part of the Labour Party that wants to give away the Chagos Islands and pay £35billion for the pleasure of doing so.

“The truth is that they’re not really at ease with the great past that this country has,” the Shadow Minister added.

Cabinet minister Nick Thomas-Symonds announced a decision had been made to adopt “UK Government” for the primary identity of all public-facing communications.

Tories have a fanciful case of ‘You can bet your bippy we’re changing that crap back‘…whenever they’re in power again. I can’t wait to see what Farage thinks of this.

Labour has been accused of disrespecting the King after the HM title was dropped from official Government communications.

In a controversial rebrand, the Government now refers to itself as the UK Government, rather than HM Government.

The Tories accused Labour of trying to “quietly obliterate tradition”, pledging to reverse the move if they returned to power.

…“Since July 2024, guidance has been updated to reflect the new Royal Coat of Arms following the accession of His Majesty The King,” he said.

…The decision was apparently made without any public announcement, consultation or explanation.

The Conservatives denounced the move as “disrespectful towards Britain’s history, culture, and constitutional settlement”, claiming it raised “serious questions about Labour’s attitude towards the monarchy and the traditions that underpin public life in the United Kingdom”.

Alex Burghart, the shadow chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, said: “How typical that Labour should be trying to quietly obliterate tradition.

“What earthly good is caused by this change? It’s just another depressing attempt to ‘modernise’ for modernisation’s sake. Be in no doubt: the Conservatives will reverse this on day one.”

This ‘rabble.’ Oh, I was glad to see someone use some harsh language about it.

…Veteran Conservative MP, Sir Desmond Swayne that “nothing surprises me about this rabble” adding that he would urge “all loyal subjects to respond by using the title ever more often”.

Previous governments ensured that official guidance made it clear that documents referred to “HM Government” and described it as “recognised and trusted by the public”. That guidance insisted the HM Government identity must “must be applied correctly and consistently” across all public-facing campaigns.

But new rules issued by Labour last year have binned all such references, and ordered officials to stop making use of the royal term. The attack on royal branding comes as Sir Keir’s republican past has been exposed. A Tory source called the change a “grotesque attack” on the monarchy.

Until the British decide to go the way of a Republic, if they ever should do so, it IS a monarchy, no matter how much it irritates Labour and annoys people.

Then again, the country is supposed to be a constitutional monarchy, and Starmer and Co. have had no issue tromping all over the ‘constitutional’ part of that description in pursuit of control.

Why not start to dismantle the monarchy part of it, one dropped courtesy heading at a time?
