New England Gun Owners Get Ready: New Firearms Advocacy Conference Announced

One of the most important things that gun rights advocates can do is to reach out and join up with other advocates. If nothing else, it reminds us that we’re not alone in the woods, despite the media’s best efforts to make us feel like the odd men and women out.

And throughout the nation, there are all kinds of events. SHOT, for example, may be about the outdoor industry, but there’s a lot of advocacy going on there, too. The NRA’s Annual Meeting, Second Amendment Foundation and CCRKBA’s Gun Rights Policy Conference, or GOA’s GOALs, are also prime examples.

But there are others, and for those behind enemy lines in New England, there’s a new one within driving distance of you, the New England Firearm Advocacy Conference, which has just had the dates announced via a press release:

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is calling on New England Second Amendment advocates and activists to mark their calendars for May 30, and save the date!

CCRKBA, in conjunction with their New England partners — Connecticut Citizens Defense League, Massachusetts Gun Owners’ Action League, Gun Owners of Maine, New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Rhode Island 2nd Amendment Coalition, and Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs — will host their inaugural Firearms Advocacy Conference on May 30 in Chicopee, Mass. at Castle of Knights, 1599 Memorial Dr.

The Firearms Advocacy Conference will bring together some of the top minds and staunchest advocates from the New England states to discuss legislation, litigation, lobbying, and more! Second Amendment giants, legislators, attorneys, and content creators have committed to participating in the event.

“We wanted to create an environment where state and regional organizations could come together and discuss the issues that are unique to their areas,” conference chair and CCRKBA Director Holly Sullivan said. “Launching our inaugural regional conference in New England will bring together states with some of the best and worst gun laws to share strategies as well as highlight potential battles that may come to the more liberty-minded states.”

The New England Firearms Advocacy Conference will be a one-day event with the benefit of no overnight lodging needs for most attendees; room blocks will be carved out for those who want to stay nearby. Participants will be provided coffee, pastries, and lunch as well as a program packed with quality presentations and speakers.

“Bringing a conference like this into the middle of the battlefield is common sense,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Massachusetts was at the heart of the American Revolution, and Bay Staters — along with many of the New England states — have to fight for their independence from tyranny yet again. We’re proud to bring this event to the epicenter of an anti-gun haven and hope our programming will inspire and educate this generation of Second Amendment supporters.”

The cost to attend the New England Firearms Advocacy Conference is $25.00 and includes a one-year membership to CCRKBA.

I’m just going to say that having a gun rights conference at a place called Castle of Knights is kind of badass. Not gonna lie about that one.

For those in New England, this is a relatively inexpensive event for you to go to, connect with other advocates, and maybe get some ideas about best practices in advocating for your right to keep and bear arms.

And, to be fair, while we don’t have a list of speakers just yet, I’m sure there will be plenty worth the trip just to see and possibly meet.

Look, we’re battling for our rights. For every step we take forward, we find someone else taking two steps backward because their state doesn’t value our civil liberties. That’s especially true in a region like New England, where the only pro-gun state is New Hampshire, and it sure can’t hold everyone.

This is the battleground, ladies and gents. This is where we need to fight.

Next weekend, I’ll be at the 2A Freedom Fest in Florida. There, I’ll be engaging in this exact same kind of connecting and fellowship. The difference is that while Florida has a long way to go still, we’re not losing ground there, either. (You should still totally come to that, too, by the way. It’s free, so between that and the New England conference, you get two for a mere $25. Not bad!)

In New England, though, the only reason it’s not moving more backward is that there’s just not that many places left to go. They’ve trampled on gun rights so badly that there isn’t much more that lawmakers really think they can get away with, so they’ll take smaller steps where they can now, but they’ll still be headed in the same direction.

So that’s why the fight there is so important. If we want to turn the tide on gun control, we have to do it in places where gun rights have been treated as an afterthought, if that, for decades.

Check it out if you’re in the area, or are interested in going to the area to connect with people who really could use the support.
