Why Did Republicans Skip The Hearing For Epstein’s Billionaire Bestie Les Wexner?

House Oversight GOP members skipped billionaire Les Wexner’s deposition, where he revealed new details about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The Wednesday deposition with the House Oversight Committee took place in Ohio where several Democrat committee members traveled to be present at the Epstein co-conspirator’s deposition, including California Democrat Ranking Member Robert Garcia. Although several Democrat members were present at the deposition not one Republican member travelled for the deposition of Wexner who was allegedly one of Epstein’s largest bankrollers.

If Les Wexner is listed by the DOJ/FBI as a “co-conspirator” in the Epstein files, why isn’t he in jail?

The Daily Caller reached out to the House Oversight Committee for comment on why no Republican members attended the deposition.

Depositions are formal legal proceedings conducted by committee staff. Under committee rules, the majority and minority alternate between hour-long periods of questioning.

Republican Committee Chairman James Comer was not present at the deposition because he was undergoing major, previously scheduled oral surgery.

The U.S. House of Representatives is on recess for the week of Feb. 17, and it is set to reconvene Feb. 20. During this break, lawmakers are generally back in their home districts for scheduled work periods, where they meet with constituents and attend local events, rather than taking time off. Meanwhile, discussions and negotiations over funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are still ongoing despite the recess.

The Daily Caller asked an anonymous GOP member why the depositions for Wexner, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are held elsewhere than Washington, D.C., and why members are attending the depositions.

“I do not know why we’re doing these things away from Washington. I don’t know, because if the average citizen were called in, they would be called into Washington, D.C., and if they weren’t, they could be arrested. I’m not sure why this is the way we’re doing it,” he told the Caller.

Former President Clinton will appear for a deposition on Feb. 27 and the former secretary will appear separately on Feb. 26 in New York, according to a NBC News report.

James Comer said Thursday on Hannity with host Sean Hannity that he is no longer interested in pursuing an investigation into Wexner, adding that the committee’s probe will instead focus on individuals who have never been questioned. “He’s already been investigated by the Department of Justice [DOJ],” Comer said.

🚨Questions remain about how Epstein amassed such immense wealth and cultivated relationships with so many influential and powerful people.

Wexner, in footage released by the committee, stated during the deposition that he had never been questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and DOJ.

“Did the FBI or Department of Justice ever directly speak to you about Epstein or Maxwell? Has the FBI or DOJ ever directly contacted you or spoken to you about Epstein or Maxwell?” someone questioned Wexner.

Wexner responded, “Not to my knowledge,” when asked whether either agency had ever contacted him. Pressed further — “Never?” — he reiterated, “Never.”

The FBI and DOJ have NEVER QUESTIONED LES WEXNER! EVER!

How can the DOJ make the statement that there were no co-conspirators if they never even questioned them or the survivors? https://t.co/ZLB1adkMtJ pic.twitter.com/UU6Yv4gWg5

The Caller reached out to Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace for comment but did not receive a response prior to publication.

The Caller also contacted the DOJ to confirm whether it has ever interviewed, investigated, or currently has any active inquiries involving Wexner, but did not receive a response before publication.
