President Donald Trump met with a DoorDash delivery driver outside the Oval Office on Monday, using the encounter to highlight the impact of his “No Tax on Tips” policy included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The delivery driver, identified as Sharon Simmons, arrived at the White House in the early afternoon with two bags of McDonald’s.

Trump greeted her outside the Oval Office and handed her a $100 tip after accepting the order.

“This doesn’t look staged, does it?” Trump quipped as he received the two bags.

According to the White House, Simmons earned more than $11,000 in tips last year.

Under the provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, qualified tipped workers can deduct up to $25,000 in tipped income beginning this tax season, a policy that fulfills a central campaign promise from the president.

White House officials said Simmons has benefited directly from the policy.

Her husband is currently battling cancer, and the additional income relief has helped offset a reduction in household earnings.

During their exchange, Trump asked Simmons whether the $11,000 in deductions included overtime-related deductions.

She confirmed that it did not.

The legislation also provides tax relief for overtime earnings, allowing qualified workers to claim a deduction of up to $12,500.

Trump referenced the broader scope of the bill while discussing its provisions.

“We should call it the ‘Great Big Beautiful Tax Cut Bill’ because it’s tremendous amounts of money, and that’s overtime, that’s also on social security, as you know, and it’s pretty amazing,” the president said.

The meeting took place as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to highlight the effects of the tax policy on working Americans.

The “No Tax on Tips” provision has been presented by the White House as a measure aimed at providing relief for service industry workers who rely on gratuities as a significant portion of their income.

Simmons expressed appreciation for the policy during her interaction with the president, describing its impact on her family’s finances.

“Well, I want to thank you for the no tax on tips. It has helped my family out immensely, and I definitely appreciate it,” she said.

Trump also extended an invitation to Simmons and her husband to attend an upcoming event at the White House.

The president said they would be invited to a UFC fight scheduled for June 14, part of a broader celebration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States on July 4.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act includes multiple provisions beyond the tip deduction, including tax benefits tied to overtime earnings and other forms of income.
